Fast Travel Road Trips?

So, I beat the “Second Season” and now find myself in kind of a free roam mode. Now I only have 136 events left to do (out of the 168). Really, you still have to do the 3 events and back thing?

My question would be: is there any way possible (or will there be) to fast travel or skip the free roam “dead time” (especially after season 2)?

I define dead time as non-productive Road Trip time (like from Horizon to Event 1, Event 1 to Event 2, Event 2 to Event 3, Event 3 to Horizon). I am finding that I am only checking off two events per hour (or something like that). I don’t really have need for road trips: level 154, skill points maxed (not this account). At the current pace, that would take me an additional 69 hours. I don’t have that kind of patience (especially since much of that time is non-productive dead time to me).

LOL are you serious…it takes too long for you too complete the game? most people complain that there is not enough to do…and then we have people that complain for the sake of complaining…life is to short for some of us I guess

I don’t see how road trips after the second “finale” are necessary. All it does is add to the total time (and stuff that I really get tired of doing). There is absolutely nothing to gain from doing road trips (at higher levels - other than a little XP, so I have a chance of getting 26 cars in 160 or so levels). Yes, road trips have their purpose (in the first “season”) but after that feel more like a chore.

It would be one thing if there were more seasons than two, but for some reason it is just two overly short (considering the total amount of races) “seasons”.

In a perfect world, Horizon 2 would just allow me to select and launch races from the Progress section. Just taking off the road trip travel time from the events would take approximately a whole day less to complete (24 hours). That would be a whole day saved by not doing something that I see as worthless and unnecessary (and also kind of boring).

It is not so much the overall length of time it takes, but all of that time that seems wasted on unnecessary road trips that bothers me.

So driving in a driving game is a chore and worthless. Got it.

On a more serious note, if it’s actually taking you a whole hour to complete 2 events then I would suggest approaching those road trips as an opportunity to sharpen your driving skills. Food for thought.

MY 2 cents; I would like to skip the mandatory Road Trips. Got everything I need already in game/cheevos and would rather grind these 168 Championships “as quick as possible”. My driving skills do not lack, I don’t need the XP/Cr for each Road Trip, I just want to get on with racing and using different cars where needed.

Yeah… I might be crazy, but I actually like the Road Trips in this game. I spent dozens of hours in FH1 just driving around aimlessly and loving it. I’m already starting to do it in FH2 just to extend the amount of playing time I’ll get out of it.

Well, I finally finished the 168 events. That was a chore - especially with the 56 road trips in this game (that is 51 after the first finale, or 46 after the second finale)

So, what kind of time are we talking here, very little online (I’m not sure exactly what some of these times entail)

  • Total Time: 77 h 47 : 06
  • Time Spent In Road Trips: 43 h 42 : 49 (so, I guess at least 10 hours just doing road trips)
  • Time Spent in Championship Races: 33 h 42 : 36
  • What is Different After Completing the 168 - Nothing (other than the events being all gold).

I think I’m done with the Forza Horizon series. If Playground Games values my time that little (adding unnecessary road trips with no real in game benefit - I consider them bloat), then maybe I shouldn’t be buying their games. Well, unless they want to make a Horizon game set in WA (Mt. Tacoma could look awesome in that, and the thought of cruising 1 Microsoft Way could be interesting).

No offense but it seems your gamertag had problems with Horizon as well seeing you only completed “some odd” achievements on that? I am thus very unsure if these driving-games are even your style of gaming or that you might need to look to more arcade (Need for Speed maybe) or more real (Project Cars maybe)?

Horizon 2 has been in stores for 2 weeks, there are already very obvious clues in the game that more content will be added in the (near) future; can’t totally take your word on it that the Horizon series is done for for you. Maybe just my interpretation but almost any game on the One so far has gotten major (and interesting) updates like FM5, RYSE, DR3, Destiny, BF4 and so on.

Just treat them as a fifth event in each championship. It’s easy XP.

I dont mind the road trips, after all it is a driving game right ?

I’m ok with the trips

IMO if you view gaming through a “productivity per hour spent” filter, you’re missing the point.

OP’s post is a little like playing catch for the afternoon with your son/daughter/nephew/niece, then stating “We only threw the ball 3,154 times in two hours. Unacceptable.”

I think you’re missing OP’s point, because your analogy is wrong. You don’t plan to waste time, and finishing something with unnecessary tasks by throwing balls with your kid.

If your goal is to complete the 168 championships in the least amount of tune I can see how skipping road trips would be desired.

So we don’t get to do the finale race anymore? That’s kind of a bummer, if that’s true.

I’m with the OP on this one. I’m level 154 or so. Completed both finales, unlocked all the perks. I found all the XP boards and discount boards. I fast travel EVERYWHERE. I even fast travel to each of the four races in each city. It’s just boring driving around trying to avoid traffic cars. Luckily someone bought me this game and I didn’t have to waste my own money on it. It’s definitely getting traded in for either Project Cars or the new COD game that’s coming out.

I would like to drive them without idiotic drivatars who will do anything to ruin my trip

I like the drives.

I have not gone out and bought 175 cars yet, even though I could afford to. I am saving up for the expensive rides first.

I like the xp boost from the drives and I use the to drive my latest stock car as a test drive before choosing how to upgrade and tune it.

I can see how they would become annoying if you don’t want or see the need for any more xp.

When you get to around 42,000 xp to level up again every little bit helps lol.

Is there a way to avoid roadtripping after each (of the first 15) championships? In the beginning, the roadtrips do make sense, you unlock new areas of the map. But after a couple of roadtrips the map has been explored, hasn’t it? So why roadtrips? Any way to do more championships in one destination in a row? Or a way to fasttravel to the next event?

I finish a championship to qualify for the final, and after each championship I am beeing sent on a roadtrip. I do not get the concept of roadtrips: it is not a race, you just have to drive some place. I do that every day in real life, it is called commuting.

Sure it is fun to just drive around and build skill chains. But I do not need a specific destination for that, at least not in Single Player.
Anybody else feeling the same way? Or is it just me?
