you can choose but only on the road trips, don’t worry man, doing 1 championship per location is not that bad, just keep doing them and you’re good, or go to a different Horizon Hub and then reselect another championship, idk if this works but its worth a try
Although it says I can select the Championship I want to take part in, I haven’t found a way to try a different Championship at the same location, I always have to move to the next location.
Locations I’ve already been to are they ‘greyed’ out and say I can only select Championships at the current location - which doesn’t allow me to change.
Call me a completionist (I am) but not being able to select the championship, when the game says I can, is a major pain in the arse.
In this case you don’t have the option to fast travel. Everytime you change the region (Sisteron, Montellino), you must do these road trips.
After every third Championship you even must first drive back to the Horizon Festival (via road trip) before you can continue with another road trip to the next region and Championship.
Yeah - I was wrong about the fast travel option for the road trip portions. …and I’ll add my name to the petition to get rid of road trips after a certain point in the game.
Up until you achieve all the perks - I think road trips are fine. They are a nice break from just races and they are a good opportunity to bank up skill points and work towards getting additional perks. However, once you’ve got all the perks - skill points are almost completely useless and this makes road trips feel really unnecessary.
I used to like road trips but now that I’m farther along in the game - I don’t like them much anymore. I like the concept - but at this point in the game there doesn’t seem to be any reward for completing road trips anymore.
Yeah this is really getting on my nerves now. I thought it was a great idea to get people used to the map at the beginning but forcing you to do it later in the game was a really bad decision.
It really takes away from the free roaming open road experience that the game is going for me.
I don’t understand this comment. The road trips don’t force you to take any specific path to the next location. It seems to me that this is the perfect example of free roaming built into the single player game. The road trip starts and you have X amount of time to get to the next location. Follow the driving line if you want. …or don’t. It’s your option to explore the map as you wish as long as you get to the next location in the allotted time.
How exactly does that take “away from the free roaming open road experience”?
Well during the road trips certain things don’t work such as the speed cameras. It’s frustrating it would have been better if it was hey the next events are here but you can go and explore without HAVING to come back to this point so you can start a long car journey. It’s not really freedom is it?
Once you get to a high level it just becomes a real pain to do over and over again. I’ve got all the boards etc. so there is literally no point for me to be wasting those minutes driving to new destinations when I could and should be able to fast travel for free.
If I want to be part of the whole driving around the map now going to events I’ll join an online free roam.
I was expecting them to give you a choice of picking your own events for each championship or selecting an option for the game to choose the events for you.
Personally I love the road trips and I’m glad they continue. They provide a welcome antidote to the carnage that is racing on Horizon. If you want hardcore racing and nothing else there is always FM5. No road trips in that.
What does the level have to do with this? I’m around level 90 and I haven’t come anywhere close to finishing the second half of FH2 yest. I still have 12 or 13 championships to win. I’ve been going around the last couple of days finding roads and signs and challenging drivatars instead of racing in the championships.
I actually like the road trips as others have mentioned.
However, if you want to shorten the trips, just go between the 2 locations closest to each other. Then when those 2 locations are complete, choose the next 2 closest.
I do this and still find them pretty annoying. I know some people really like them and I think they are actually a really good game mechanic. It is just that after awhile they should become optional, instead of being forced to do them.
