Fanatec Podium

i just got the DD1 Fanatec Podium trying to get good settings
anyone else have one of these

I don’t have the Podium Wheelbase but your post reminded me to visit the Fanatec website to see if there is a new firmware for my Clubsport Wheelbase. It looks like they have now added a ton of info on recommended settings for each wheelbase for a bunch of different games. So you can log in and look up Forza 7 and find recommended settings for your Podium as well as the various Clubsport Bases. I have not tried their settings yet but I am going to this afternoon. This is something they should have done a while ago.

Hey Monkey,

Fanatec’s website Forum has settings for the Podium. Let me know how they work for you, because currently I’m not getting any force feedback from the wheel… however I do get road feel feedback (bumps, kerbs etc…), I just don’t get any resistance.

you know the 2 buttons you push to put in pc mode. push it again to put it in comp v2.5 mode
then i had to bind the gas and brake

then mess about with the ffb in the DD1 base. ive not found a good setting yet. but 100 is way way to strong

Thanks for the info… I ended up abandoning the suggested settings from fanatec, and went back to the default settings in game. That seems to work a bit better. However dampening sucks and oversteer/countersteer is non-existent, especially compared to other sims. Definitely need to play around with it to hone in on better feel

So you guys with the DD1 how are you feeling about your purchase? I’m on the fence on buying one and I know they just were freshly released to all the pre-orders. So I’ve been looking around for everyones reviews so far. Thanks in advance!

It’s a fantastic piece of design and engineering! Beautifully machined parts and connections that are secure and robutst.
It’s working great on other racing sims, I’m blown away by the responsiveness and by the fidelity.
If you’re only using it for Forza, don’t bother. So far, the FFB in Forza is so bad, that the responsiveness and fine granularity of the wheel exposes how bad the FFB is even worse than the Thrustmaster TX.

Hopefully someone has some magic config values that will correct it, but I’m not holding my breath. I’m wondering whether the main game loop, input loop has too low a refresh rate/ latency to effectively communicate useful FFB.

Took the words out of my mouth. I like Forza too, but I can’t see why somebody would get a direct drive wheel for it.

im happy with it. theres still alot of figuring out to do . but you can feel every road bump. when your in a corner some how you feel the wight of the car.
and its just smooth.

im going to try Blue028 settings here soon

with ffb cranked up you can hardly turn the wheel.

i heard there jacking the price

yea theres a big difference in how the podium feels in forza vs project cars 2. on the PC

forza just feels dumb down. in PC2 its intense and a good workout. when your in a corner the wheel is fighting you to satay in the corner just like a real car.
you hit the rumble strip you know you hit the rumble strip. you can feel the road some how you can feel the brakes

it hard to explain. but worth it id say

I’m running a DD1 on Forza (because I can lol) and the FFB is garbage. It was this way on my 2.5 as well. I actually upgraded to the dd1 hoping the FFB would improve and it’s pretty much exactly the same. I still play a ton of Forza due to most of my friends being on it. No one I hang out with locally is on pc.

I have tried every possible combination and to no avail. I can run 100 FFB in game and wheel and it still feels dull and lifeless. I can run the track with one hand easily. There is no way this should be possible on a DD1. Before Fanatec updated the firmware on the 2.5 (due to the xbox apparently clipping the signal), it felt a lot better.

I just don’t get why turn 10 can’t get this figured out. I know it’s not a “sim”, but that’s why I like Forza. When I get home from a long day at work it’s nice to just hop on and go race. While not perfect, F1, Dirt, etc are considerably better in the FFB dept. With all the updates like RR and the like; I don’t understand why they wouldn’t spend more time improving the FFB.

Some of the settings go higher than 100. I can’t remember which setting(s) it was, and don’t want to run the game up at the moment, but one or more of them had to go above 100 to get a decent strength of FFB with the CSW 2.5.

Still fine tuning but this should give a good base. Settings for a DD2

On wheel settings:
Sen 900 (540 for LMP/ '90’s and Modern F1)
FF 50 (may want to go a bit higher on the DD1)
Sho off
ABS off
For 100
Spr 100
Dpr 50
Ndp 45
Nfr 10
Fei 50

In Game settings:
Vibration scale 0
Force feedback scale 75
Aligning torque 125
Mechanical trail scale 75
Pnuematic trail scale 170
Road feel 145
Load sensitivity 90
Wheel damper 10
Center spring 42
Dynamic damper scale 100
Steering sensitivity 100
Steering linearity 57 (Don’t go to high on this one to prevent wheel ocilation)

Hope this helps you some.

I really want to thank you guys for posting these settings. Between you and Blue; this has really changed the feel of the FFB. Not just a little bit either. I can feel the tires and chassis so much better now. Understeer, tire deflection, etc; are readily apparent. I am running slower laps now due to the extra torque; but I think I’ve also avoided a couple over rotates that I was able to save due to better feel of what the car is doing.

The major difference between this and what I was running is the in game settings. My aligning Torque as a 1/3 that value along with mechanical trail, etc. I went from a FFB in game of 100 and 100 on wheel which felt like a limp noodle, to 75 in game and 40 on wheel and it’s back to a workout again on some of the aggressive cars.

I don’t think I’d recommend setting the in game FFB above 100 though as running the track with the on board FFB telemetry; 100 just barely keeps it below the clipping point. I don’t know how 200 isn’t clipping like crazy. Anyone running a DD1/2 or CSW; I’d really recommend giving these settings a try.
