When he said it doesn’t need to be safe, I knew it was going to be a typical Hollywood poopfest. F1 cars have crash tests now, this isn’t the Colin Chapman era.

I am really happy with the choice of the song.

You’d expect having the FIA’s backing that it will be reasonably realistic. Looks like they got “real” images from formula races. I’m sure it’s CGI-replaced up the wazoo like Top Gun: Maverick, but the result doesn’t look half-bad. Whether all of that will translate into good cinematography, we’ll see.

Beyond that, I expect all the sports drama tropes of the underdog story variety. And I’m guessing it’s in Brad Pitt’s contract that the one female character has to be dragged into a romance subplot to fawn over him. But at least it doesn’t look immediately terrible and out of touch like Gran Turismo.

Now its released to cinemas , has anyone seen the F1 film yet & if so , is it any good ?
As a very longtime F1 fan I had hoped with them shooting during actual F1 race weekends & getting official F1 support that it might be a realistic portrayal of the sport , but going by the very short film clips & game senario’s in the F1 The Movie DLC pack for the F1.25 game , & the included offical movie trailer im not so hopeful now.
Is it worth a trip to the cinema or should I wait for it landing on one of the streaming services ?

I’ve seen it billed as an Apple production so I expect it will appear on Apple Plus before Christmas.

Recommended.

IMAX would be sweet for the driving sequences.

Aside from some of the fluff, a good movie.

Far far far better than GT
