Ignorance is bliss…
Just put nonFE vehicles back on autoshow, and update Forthaton shop with new stuff every few hours like Forthaton Live events.
I don’t have a problem with exclusive cars, one of my biggest issues is with the bonkers situation created by legendary status
It drives this auto sniping nonsense…
a non legendary person cannot list a car at full value - a legendary person snipes it and puts it back out for 20 million … hardly fair?
I am a non legendary person … I have 2 cars that are very desirable but because of my 'status ’ they are difficult to sell for what they are worth
even if I go through selling junk cars for cash to get near its value the buyer then has the risk of missing out to a sniper
having exclusive cars gives goals & challenges …
to be honest I thought cars were given away too easily at the start of FH4…
certain exclusive models for achievements would be fair I think -
500 podiums =exclusive car
3 start all PRs = exclusive car
every bonus board = exclusive car
(and so on)
a bit like the achievement trophies but some trigger cars … they would be a badge of honour to have in the game … maybe even make some of them not available to sell so the only way to own it is to get the achivement.
They would need to be in the main game and not locked behind DLC like fortune island
if it’s too easy it is not an achievement - I’m not really into getting medals for turning up
I agree with a lot of the things people have said in this thread.
Like OP said, I too feel like on paper, the Horizon Playlist feature is a great a idea, and an idea the game needed, but its implementation is what ruins it at the moment.
Mixing and matching to get the right percentages sounds like a terrific idea to spice things up, and give me the ability to play safe - stick to my guns, or try new things - like multiplayer (or inversely, single player). At the moment, 100% requirement means I HAVE to play everything. No buts or ifs, EVERYTHING. That takes all of the joy out of it, it’s just a checklist I mindlessly go through.
All in all, I am glad I tried out new things I never touched in the past, like The Trial, or even Online Adventure. It was a new experience. But frankly, I hate playing Playground Games. Moreso than Online Adventure. Because Online Adventure is something I have to do once, and then it’s valid for the entire month. I can bosh out 10 sessions in a weekend, and forget about it. Playground Games is a weekly thing. And it’s more annoying to complete since you have to WIN, at least with Online Adventure you can just power through 10 sessions and not care about the results.
So yeah, in short, I like the idea of the feature, would be cool for us to actually be able to play our own way and mix and match to get to 100%, if players do everything, i.e. reach 120%, award them with some super wheelspins or a profile flair, or something cosmetic to show that they went the extra mile, but don’t punish us normies for just wanting to enjoy the game and not feel like this is another chore for the week.
I’ll put in the work to get a car but i refuse to play online modes in order to get it. No one likes trials or PG and yet you need to complete them to attain 100%, even the upcoming “fix” will still require you to complete either the trial or PG to get 80% and honestly i find that ridiculous. A simple solution would be to add more championships, that way you can ignore the online modes and still get the car you want.
Technically with the new patch you could also do Ranked Adventure and skip the Trial and Playground games, but you’re correct that online is still required. This is what I’ve done since even though the upfront work of qualifying for ranked takes awhile, there’s no requirement to win and it counts for the entire season, plus now that I’ve achieved ranked at least once I can do so much more easily in all future series. Since there’s no requirement to win (or even finish) events, I just bring joke cars and babysit the controller and push a button every few seconds so I don’t get AFK kicked and do something else while the others race. Like I said in the OP though, it is annoying that I’m being pushed into these modes. Even if I can get ranked for not technically doing anything, it’s still not enjoyable for me and a waste of my time, and defeats the dev’s purpose of pushing people into this mode if a lot of players are just going to do the same thing (and I did see a decent number of players doing so), unless they’re just trying to pad participation numbers.
Anyways, more championships and PR stunts would be fine with me. Have two from each discipline each season (Road, Street, Dirt, Cross Country), one with A/S1/S2, the other with B/C/D plus drag for 9 championships, and for the PR stunts have two of each type (danger sign, speed trap, speed zone, drift zone) with one of each on dirt, the other on pavement. Even better, they could also add the Fortune Island style Trailblazer events to the main map and include those in the championships as well, along with a seasonal showcase. This would give players choices in the events. If they don’t like cross country and drifting, there’s still plenty of other events to choose from.
Boy, it’s a good thing there’s someone here who can speak for every single person that plays the game.
Can someone tell me what the percentage is for The Trial at the Festival? Is it 15%?
On Discord, there’s this pinned message:
“Right now, I think the percentages are as follows: Rivals 6%, Forzathon 22%, Online Adventure 18%, Seasonals 54% (there are currently 9 Seasonals so 6% each).
Bear in mind that this can change if we have different content in future Seasons and Series.”
The Trial event counts as a seasonal, so it’s worth 6% (same as the PR stunts, Playground Games, Showcase Remix and the championships).
I like the forzathon system, on how you do challenges, to get a prize for free. The only thing that should be changed, is the time exclusive vehicle prizes. On the auction house, they sell out to the point where it is very difficult to obtain a car. So I have come up with a very simple solution: Make the cars available on the auto show, where you have a guaranteed chance to get the car, if you have the money. Even if the developers make it so a car that is worth 100k during the forzathon, and then after, you have to pay 1m, I would still buy that car. That would make people happy. You make it so, it costs a lot of credits to buy, so if you miss the forzathon time gate, you can work hard to get the needed credits to buy the car.
I agree totally with gamer1000k - and I understand where Storm Hawk 89 is coming from with his/her views on the online games. Firstly I would like to compliment gamer1000k for the well thought out and articulate viewpoint that they have presented (along with the various updates and subsequent comments). As a mature player (my sons are in their 20s) I really do prefer to play at my own pace, I don’t have the time to get really good at the racing games and I would rather work on livery designs for the regular competitions (with which I have had a reasonable degree of success) and I am frustrated that to participate in the Seasonal award games in order to win certain rare or unobtainable cars I have to muck in with people that curse and howl, ram and bully their way through the games - I mean no disrespect to the good and decent Forza folk and I probably sound like I am generalising but I must speak as I find and the “effing this and effing that” bunch (most of whom sound the right age to be my grandkids) do figure in many of the online games that I have previously and reluctantly tried my hand at - especially the chasing about flags and Kings with a virus nonsense that I particularly dislike - and which I believe has absolutely nothing to do with a top quality driving/racing simulation game. In fact I must ask - are these pointless and silly exercises in chasing each other about and generally getting stressed the best that the game designers could come up with? What about something a bit more car and skill orientated? - slalom races in and out of markers on a variety of low and high traction surfaces? an obstacle course for the off road cars where you get penalised for knocking markers or something similar?, alternatively a hill climb on both road and all terrain against the clock and so on… - there has to be something else that would test and entertain us petrol-heads better than the pointless exercise in trying to carry a flag to a drop zone that one’s rather unimaginative opponents simply circle block like wolves around a carcass thus removing all potential for skill and strategy to play a part.
In a nutshell, I support gamer1000k a resounding 100% and feel that the arduous, stressful and often unpleasant task of racing online with the flotsam and jetsam of the gaming community should be entirely optional and nobody should miss out on cars or anything else as a result of not wanting to play online. Equally, for those that have the skill and confidence to “mix it” with the rest online then good for them and more power to them - But, in summary - surely a hobby that requires such a significant investment (console, games, add ons, car packs, expansions, wheels and pedals, VIP, Gold etc etc. should be fully inclusive and totally optional at the same time…
Well said Buddy Munter!
(I’ve often thought that an organized Demolition Derby would be a good replacement for all the playground games.)
Same here. I’m completely ignoring any time-limited activities because I don’t have much time to play (1-2 rases per day) so I don’t want to star what I will not finish and I want to play races that I want to in my small gaming time. Plus I have other games that I’d like to play.
I thought that Unlimited edition will give me everything but now it seems that I’ll miss a lot of content. This is my first and the last Forza game.
