Ok, so here is the summary of what happened - because I have had to retell this sorry so many times to multiple Xbox reps but to no avail and they told me it is not their fault, but with FH2 servers that has led to my save data being lost. (on XBOX ONE btw)
-Havent used Xbox in a while.
-Power outage during console update
-Decided to use it to watch NOW TV
-Decided to play some games after watching sports event.
-AC4, Strider, Lara Croft all had a syncing data screen. Was surprised, went by okay. No issues
-Came back after a few days, another console update. Then decided to play FH2
-Syncing game data screen came on for multiple hours and was frozen at 0% for quite some time, until I clicked the dashboard and came back to the point where it was stuck at 100% for a few more hours
-Contacted XBL Support Here - they told me to do multiple things, cold reset, clear Bluray cache, remove profile and reupload it and then finally uninstall the game and reinstall it
-Did all this but to no avail. Game reinstalled. Turned it on, syncing data screen came on again and I thought it would take a long time. Left it overnight, when I came back it was done for once! But since controller turned off, I had to turn my controller on again.
-THE GAME STARTED FROM THE VERY BEGINNING… (Open your eyes, cutscene etc) - I was mortified. 70+ hours of progress just gone. I did not complete that first race from the boat. Turned off my xbox.
-Contacted XBL Support for the second time, was told to reinstall it again. Had started from the beginning again…
-Contacted XBL third time - talked for like 2 hours, no progress. Rep said he would look over it.
-Contacted XBL support today. - They said its not Microsoft’s Fault but a fault with Forza Servers…
What can I do about this? Is there a way to get my save back again. I hope my DLC is not affected (VIP, Day One, Storm Island, Special Store Car etc).
Please help Turn 10/ Playground Games - Anything you guys can do will be very helpful.
Other pointers (Only one account linked on this xbox, nothing else). Game save data only lost for FH2, not for any other game I own…
Unfortunately, this step here likely resulted in corrupting your gamesave file. At this point, there is nothing you can do but to start over from scratch. You will have access to all your DLC content, but will have to play through to earn credits and rebuild your garage.
Well, it’s a great idea but it hasn’t been implemented the best way. It also doesn’t help that the typical Forza game has a file size that is easily ten times larger than what other games tend to have.
See, the system that is in place works rather well when dealing with games that have your typical file size. It’s was designed for this. It was not designed to do syncs and multiple features all at once while trying to sync 100 Mb files. This results in more issues with Forza Games than any other game. Unfortunately, more often than not, this probably also results in the Forza game save loss and corruption issue to appear as an outlier when looking at data from all Xbox One games.
Hopefully, there is eventually an OTA update that can resole this for the Xbox One console.
So in other words you cancelled the sync because you were to impatient?..FH3 will be a bigger file probably and you will still be dealing with a long sync time
