Engine Stall at Starts

Same issue here: when I am bumping the rev limiter and the start countdown hits zero, I expect it to behave like I dumped the clutch - and this is NOT what is happening right now. The cars, especially the Indy and AWD cars, all bog down like I dropped the clutch with zero throttle. Not cool.

Please fix.

Also, audio sliders please.

Love this game though - well done Turn10!

Anyone having more issues with stall on launch? I don’t remember having hardly any issues at all in FM5. I’ve had issues with several of the cars already, including the IndyCar in the first showcase and with several tunes in a Civic WTCC. Any tips on getting an actual good launch with some of these vehicles? Using manual w/clutch with a controller (Clutch set to A button). Thanks!

It just seems like you’re under reving or releasing the clutch too early. There’s not really any other reason that you should be stalling.

I’m experiencing the same issue. It goes away by turning TCS off, but some people aren’t comfortable with that. One of my favorite cars, the Lotus 77, stalls on launch without fail unless you turn off TCS. My strange yet effective workaround for it if I want to use TCS is to repeatedly mash A and RT to feather both the clutch and throttle until I get up to enough speed to hammer it down. Not a realistic solution, definitely not something I should have to do in a racing game, but it works.

My fix is to hold the clutch and dont release it until after you get control of your car while holding down the accelerator

That also worked for me in the demo with the Indycar.

Didn’t work here.

Ended up creating my own tune so I could mess with the gearing (and fix the twitchy nature of the handling) and that basically fixed it for the WTCC Civic at least. Think 1st gear was just too long?

I have the exact same problem as well, also on that Indycar showcase and a couple of other cars.

I had the same problem on the Indycar and on occasion with other cars. I think it’s just a bug with the console reading your controller inputs for the most part (especially if your console and controller don’t have a visible path to each other like in my case where the console is behind the tv).

Some cars, such as the Indy car are however sketchy to launch with manual with clutch and for those I revert to plain manual. It works better, that car in particular shifts equally fast and the wonky AI are enough to worry about that I don’t want to worry about the clutch not working potentially.

Yeah, I have been having the same problem. Been getting left at the starting line in many a multiplayer race. The TSC is the biggest culprit I believe. Ya need to turn it off in able to get a good launch if your using manual w/ clutch, sucks though if you are not comfortable without it in the remainder of the race. Which in some cases with some cars is somewhat necessary. Shure would be nice if you could map TCS to a button on the controller or a wheel, but we are not using a PC here.

If you run just “manual” without the clutch, this problem disappears. Otherwise use Zeyar’s solution.

May work but sucks if your using a wheel and three pedal setup.

Why use clutch at all? I use just manual shifting. Keep in mind with manual shifting a clutch is still involved, only that the car’s computer is doing the clutch shifting, and trust me, the computer can do a much better job at that for me. Also, there is no performance benefit to using the clutch at all in Forza. It’s more effective to use just manual without clutch.

Manual w/clutch is a lot faster, to a larger extent in lower classes. You’ll find a few of the highest performance race cars and prototypes will be fine with manual sequential as they already have top of the line transmissions, rather than stock factory road 'boxes.

Which is absolutely wank and one of my least favorite aspects of Forza. The clutch system is completely unrealistic and little more than a gimmick yet it is rewarded with a cheesy speed boost that is significant enough that you have to use it to be truly competitive.

I’m having the same issue, seems to go away when switching to manual mode without clutch.
I can’t seem to rev the engine up at the start until the last possible second, making it near impossible to get off the line appropriately without a drivatar running into me.
I don’t know if this is to handicap clutch users but Turn 10 should really fix this and return it to how it was in FM5.

Using a gamepad controller btw, my csr wheel is feeling lonely.

You have to let the cinematic play through to get a better chance to prepare for the start. If you are hitting the A button to start the race and skip the cinematic it doesn’t give you much time at the start.

I guess I’m just too impatient then. Haha

In FM5 one of the Audi Le Mans cars was horrible for this in stock form.

Some cars behave a tad differently in FM6. Some don’t stall at all, some you have to vary your start. I’ve had one car where at the start of the race I had to hold down on A, and pop it right as or just a fraction of a second before “GO”. With the F50 I’m currently driving I have to pop the clutch after go. If I do it too soon it starts to stall, but if I just hit the clutch real quick while holding the throttle down, I’m back in.
