Endurance race glitch - infuriating!

Twice this has happened now, I was doing the Catalunya Endurance race. I got exactly half way through the race and the tranny started to sputter, no problem, I’ll pit at the end of the lap. Half way through the lap the car completely stops! Can’t move. I look at my damage monitor, the tranny is only at 45%. So angry that 40 minutes was totally wasted I shut it down. A couple of days later i go to try it again. I completely baby my tranny the next race, by the 16th lap, tranny is at 10%. Beginning of the 17th lap, car sputters again I rewind back ( I wasn’t going to waste another 40 minutes ) and pit. The entire second half of the race I monitored my damage like a hawk, 0 damage on the second to last lap, I assume the car is good to finish, but REALLY slow down to ensure I can complete. On the very last lap the car started to sputter again, with not enough rewinds to get me to a pit, I had to keep going. A third of the way through the last lap my car completely dies again, won’t move at all! I checked my damage statistics ( while all my competition passes me! ) and everything was zero including my engine, tranny was at 2%. Tires were orange. What is causing my car to stop running on this endurance race?? I can’t even complete this ridiculous race now because no matter how I drive my car, something is causing it to stop running!! So FRUSTRATING, that’s basically two hours completely gone for no reason.

Damaged tire wouldnt cause the car to completely stop would it?? Thats the only real damage there was

Is anybody else having this problem??

Which car?

What did your gas tank gauge read?

Most likely you ran out of gas

It was the Corsa Ferarri. You know what, honestly, I didnt even think of fuel as I had pitted exactly at the half way point, and second place actually went 2 more laps then me. If it was indeed fuel, I would have to pit 3 times vs the rest of the fields 2 stops (and second was the ferarri too). That could be the problem but I figured tires would go before fuel. I’ll never build up enough of a lead for an extra pit, not on Pro or Unbeatable

The Ferrari 458 and the Audi R8 require you to pit more often than the other cars (Nurburgring might be slightly different since the laps are so long, but some cars will let you run half that race before pitting). Tyre wear is not an issue in these endurance races, by the time you run out of gas the tyres still got plenty of life in them. I tested all of the GT cars in the Road Atlanta 100 until they ran out of fuel and recorded time, number of laps, and tyre wear, here’s a link to my writeup on this: Forza 6 Endurance races fuel and tire wear - Google Sheets

I can pretty much guarantee you are running out of gas. The fuel never outlasts the tires in an FM game (to date). The good news: FM6 more realistically models fuel consumption, so you can drive farther if you drive at less than full throttle and/or short shift.

Also if you are damaging your transmission that will drastically slow you down especially at 45% damage. Im guessing you are hurting it while down shifting thru the braking sections. Try not to downshift so quick so you don’t over rev your motor. Quick way to find out where you are doing your damage go into a 3 lap race with sim damage on and pull up the telemetry. Drive normal and see where your damage is coming from and work on fixing it.

If you keep it below 10% you will go faster and use less gas which may let you only do 2 pit stops instead of 3 because you will have more gas in the car.

Just an idea… good luck on completing it next time around.

Thanks for all the great replies guys. Next race I will monitor the fuel. I feel like a bit of a dolt not thinking of that, but the other racers seem to all be on a one stop race. Ill be sure to monitor this next race.

Thnaks again guys!

I’ve seen at least one competitor driving the BMW M3 GT2, which is more of a gas-guzzler than the other cars. When I did the Nürburgring race, my main opponent was driving that car and had to pit every two laps, whereas I was driving the Viper and only had to pit after lap 4. You should also notice that your opponents that drive either the Ferrari or the Audi will pit earlier than you. Either way, good luck with the races, I’ve found them to be lots of good fun!

Could it be damage taken as you exit the pit. I know where its goes from auto drive down the pit to switching over to you that it can cause the engine to reach its limits as it exits in the wrong gear. you could try holding the clutch in and use no throttle the moment out of pits.

True, plus many use manual with NO. Clutch, so if that’s happening, then it won’t happen IF you just accelerate gently as it switches over to manual control upon exiting the pit exit lane.

In the game it switches to 2nd gear while its in Auot Exit, then it drops down to 1st as soon as Auto stops and if you’re holding down the accelerator, the cars going to over rev, and especially if you grab 2nd gear and loose traction etc.

Just allow it to exit under Auto, be ready to slowly apply accel, send then change gear to 2/3rd quickly and not loose traction in doing so. Then just hold acceleration at mid-level until you’re exiting and going onto the track.

Accelerating through the gears without over reving the engine. I used to have trans damage initially - until I stopped holding the right trigger down so much. Started changing gear at optimum torque levels, rather than optimum rev limits.

Took some getting used to, but I think it’s easier with the touch sensitive triggers of the Elite Controller. .?
