FM7 is very limited with it’s fixed mapping alternatives, really wish for free mapping in next FM like most other games have had always.
Even introduce a button to use as shift key to manage double functions on rest of buttons. Y-button as shift as example make both Y and another button like D-pad a second function etc. Especially needed for many wheels that does not have everything on controller, like LSB and RSB as examples.
Ran into this issue with FM7 that to do drift you had to go into settings just for this - this kind of hud feature I would like to map to quickly shift unless there in multifunction display. And worst was that you did not get laptimes if drift hud was on etc. So a swift swap with a button combination of choice would be great.
Being able to assign the buttons on the steering wheel in the game, Having a steering wheel with many buttons and that when assigning them on the console takes them as repeated is quite annoying. Let’s hope for more support for console steering wheels. Besides that they can bring support with a default configuration for the most popular steering wheels such as t248, csl dd, g923 etc.
To piggyback on this, it needs to be a no-brainer that both the console and PC versions of the game have access to the full range of advanced controller configuration (not just the PC). I’m talking full manipulation of deadzones, axes, button remapping, all feasible aspects of force feedback, wheel rotation, scaling, etc. The driving sim equipment is only becoming more attainable for more users, and since Fanatec and Logitech are offering DD wheels that tout console compatability, don’t leave those users out in the cold with a half-baked suite of settings. Please and thank you.
More often than not, for wheels which aren’t fully supported, stuff like dpad navigations doesn’t work properly. It’s always good practice (for accesbility reasons too), to let the user map the dpad navigation, the pause/start button, the enter and go back buttons, and the tab switching buttons.
This is a must have feature, it’s ridicolous driving with the wheel and navigate trought menus with the keyboard when the wheel have a dpad but is not usable in menus. Forza Horizon 5 has this feautre and is very well implemented.
I would love to be able to map more inputs to steering wheel. Like confirm, back out, menu navigation. Scaleable moveable hud elements would be great as well.
Backing this. I have a CSL DD using the XBOX Universal Hub and I simply cannot use half of the buttons, because they are (in my opinion at least) mis-interpreted as another button. Examples:
LT / RT are the same as my gas and brake pedal
LB /RB are the same as LSB and RSB
So that are already 4 buttons I cannot use on my wheel for things like looking left or right.
Also, the display that is supposed to show speed and gear is still not working. All of that, even though Turn10 lists my devices as “supported”.
Agreed. We shouldn’t have to press Escape on a keyboard when using a wheel. Wheel controls should be mappable and shown in the game as their corresponding numbers.
Agreed. All navigational controls should be mappable and the wheel controls should be represented on the screen with their appropriate controller ids. This is how Horizon does it.
On Xbox certified wheel(McLaren gt3 v2) many buttons do the same like other buttons. And no oled function.
If this wheel is certified for Xbox, then why the half of the wheel just not working with Xbox exclusive title?
Yeah, if you’re on an unsupported wheel, like most Moza models, you have to constantly juggle another input device for everything beyond the actual driving. Settings, tuning, tire/fuel, vehicle selection, etc.
The wheel has all of the buttons needed, but the game won’t use them.
Even on my G923 I can’t use +/- , LSB/RSB the spinny button and the button inside the spinny button. 6 buttons I can’t map to look around or anything else. Either I can use telemetry or camera left right… it’s annoying
It’s an Xbox issue and not a game issue. The sensations on PC are good and you can use all the buttons. But now PC the game is broken with frame drops at 30 fps with a 4070
I play on PC with Moza R12 base and RS V2 wheel.
I am continually frustrated with having to use the keyboard for in game menu navigation.
It is aggravating to have to hit the enter key on the keyboard in order to resume my game. This means that when I resume, I only have one hand on the wheel, giving me less control over the car. Given that I have a bunch of buttons and two D-pads on my wheel that could easily handle menu navigation, I don’t understand why it’s not mappable in FM.
Not being able to map buttons to basic navigation makes the game basically unplayable. The ironic thing is that all gameplay controls are mappable. If you hit the X button to rewind, you still have to go to back to the keyboard to leave/cancel. You can be in any menu, clicking with the mouse, and press a button on your wheel, and the cursor will go away, but you can’t highlight or select anything.
It just seems like more effort for the developers to have to hard-code the D-pad, ABXY, etc., for every wheel out there (I don’t even know if the “supported” ones work out of the box), when we can just map that ourselves. Using the keyboard wouldn’t be a problem if you only had to do it once, when you first install the game and configure your inputs.
I’m on a Moza R5 with ES. Yes, force feedback is known to not be great either (for any brand), but that’s tweakable. Can we at least get buttons working as expected outside of driving?
