DV for Forza Motorsport

Wrong and weird… Lol, kind of like the TV saying “what’s the matter big boy? Too much screen for ya?!” Lol…

Oh I remember the days of SCART video. Good times! I got one for my Sony Trinitron and I remember how immediately all the characters in Mortal Kombat looked clearer. I could practically see their expressions and all!

50 to 60 FPS is a difference.

There seriously was a trick, you could only plug the SCART in like halfway. And then the TV’s that normally would have given you a 16:9 border still played it at 4:3.

Wow analog video out and input was complicated back then. We can all be happy we now have digital HDMI compared to SCART.

Hdr10+ is like Dolby vision where it adjusts on a scene by scene basis, but it’s still 10 bit

So it’s useless.

No not at all. It’s not like the typical auto features that come on tvs that all get disabled when you turn on filmmaker mode. Basically hdr10 they set its settings once for an entire movie, or episode of tv, or game. It’ll look way better then sdr but some dark/bright scenes will seem either too dark or bright.

Hdr10+ and Dolby vision adjust the settings on a scene by scene (maybe even frame by frame, i forget which) basis so that you always have the optimal colors and contrast and white/black levels throughout whatever media you’re watching.

Hdr10+ and Dolby vision will always look better then hdr10 so long as they’re enabled for the type of media you’re watching. Sadly xbox doesn’t use hdr10+ which sucks for Samsung owners because Samsung only has hdr10+ and doesn’t have Dolby vision.

But how should any of this help, if the game not even supports native HDR?

I currently watch Jurassic Park 1 with 41,1 Mbits X265 in 4K with DTS 7.1-HD MA. It’s only basic HDR but looks fantastic.

I knowww… I’m spoilt rotten by the motion smoothening features on my TV and can’t seem to want to go back to Flight Simulator at 30fps even though it is input lag free.

Right, so HDR10+ is useless for me for now as my TV supports it but Xbox/Xbox games apparently don’t.

Looks like I’m all set with HDR10. I’ll take it over DV any day for games.

I understand you, i am feeling the same way since 2009. That is when i bought my first HDTV. It was a Samsung with Pseudo 100 HZ.

But now i have a TV with REAL 120 HZ.

Nice sound setup. Bet Forza doesn’t do it any justice.

There you can see all of my system. Even very very detailed.

The cool thing is, my sound is all unbreakable. Because it’s made of glass fibre. I can volume it up to 115 Dezibels and they won’t break. Because it’s physically impossible. It’s like shooting at a kevlar vest.

2x 200 Watts Teufel Ultima 40 MK3
4x 80 Watts Teufel Ultima 20 MK2
1x 60 Watts Teufel Ultima 20/40 MK3 Center
2x Yamaha Subwoofers 1 130 Watts 1 100 Watts

All speakers UNBREAKABLE because of kevlar. And so far i couldn’t break my 2 subwoofers.

That just means you haven’t let your neighbors across the block hear them :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no neighbours. The closest are like 300 meters away.

The only neighbours i have are my stepsister (mid 40s) and her son (14) and husband (50s) that live next door, else there is nobody.

I just seen this:

I bet they come over all the time for movies, games, and such?

You have such neighbours?

I think fm23 does support hdr10 and Dolby vision? At least that’s what is says on the xbox Microsoft store page.

All i know is hdr10 looks significantly better on my Samsung q80c than if i disable hdr10. Also hdr10+ looks much better then hdr 10 when i stream stuff which i can test by running it on appletv+ on my tv vs on my xbox, so i wouldn’t discount it.

Do you have a Samsung too?

Nope

I stopped buying Samsung after my 60 inch TV died right before the guarantee time ended. I will never buy Samsung TV’s again. Same goes for SONY.

I will never buy Samsung or Sony TV’s again.

I only buy Samsung Smartphones, but never TV’s or monitors.

I did have Samsung and SONY die on me. But never LG.

Hdr10+ is samsungs royalty free hdr standard while dolby vision is a proprietary hdr standard. They both use dynamic metadata to adjust tone mapping and brightness on your tv or monitor as opposed to hdr10 which just uses static levels for tone mapping and brightness.

Dolby vision has an edge over hdr10+ but for most content theyre pretty much equal. As far as gaming goes theres very few titles that actually natively support dv and i believe only 1 title that uses hdr10+ thats in beta right now. Dv on xbox is basically a marketing deal between microsoft and dolby because 99% of games dont actually support it so theres no dynamic metadata.

As far as film and tv, the benefits of dynamic metadata are on a case by case basis as specific scenes can be adjusted, but imo its not something that most people would notice over standard hdr10.

If you have a low-mid tv or monitor or older oled dolby vision can maximise hdrs effect as it does a good job for screens lower than 1000 nits. But for high end tvs that have over a 1000 nits, dolby vision isnt really neccessary and can sometimes make things look worse as its limiting the tvs capabilities.
