This weekend I have actually spent some time playing Forza 5. I got it when I picked up an Xbox one and then F&F expansion came out for Horizon 2 and then Forza 6 was right around the corner. I was at a measly Level 16, but do to Forza Rewards, I at least had 37,000,000 or so credits to play with. But any way, all I have to say is that the Drivatars in 5 are INSANE. I see now why you all complained about them. Where did they get their training? Must have been in Horizon 1.
I’ve started Forza 5 recently and this is one of the worst things in the game!
It’s annoying!! My guess is they are tailored with just Gas and Rewind. So people using all the assists who don’t care about crashing in every corner are used by these stupid drivatars for the “sincronization” (it’s the word in my language).
Really, some of them are really annoying. Not that it isn’t fun to beat them, but sometimes they are “insane”. That’s a good definition…
I am beginning to think that this is why Forza 6 multiplayer is such a mess. They all started with 5 and think that since the Drivatars beat and bang and use you for brakes that it is the “expected” behavior while playing. I don’t see much difference between the two.
I have now gotten to Level 42 and I have found the M. Rossi of Forza 5. At least he is to me. Always dive bombing me in corners, inhuman bursts of speed on the last lap, etc, etc. His name is RBW Triton. And nothing gives me greater pleasure than when it pops up and tells me I have beaten his time !!
Oh that cheap AI technique. Somehow a random drivetar (usually from your friends list I think, because I don’t have a lot of friends who play this game) breeze through all the other cars.
I’ve restarted a couple of races because of this lol
It’s impossible to catch them.
I wonder how my drivatar behaves. But too lazy to play with a dummy gamertag to find out.
I might eventually doing it though, because of those community credits achievements.
The one I said is on my Friends list and it is fun racing against him and 2 other Friends that were around much more in the 360 days. You don’t see them around here anymore. And like you, I wonder how my Drivatar behaves on other peoples games. I have to admit to being somewhat “aggressive” on the first lap or two, but I do try to be as clean as possible. But with only 2 or 3 lap races, and starting 14 of 16, you have to be if you want to finish on the podium. That might be my main gripe with the game. IF you aren’t aggressive you could lose almost a lap to the leader if you get behind the first corner cluster cluck on a track like Long Beach
Don’t worry about the behaviour of your drivatar, its not really copying your or your friends racestyle. Want proof? Just do a race on Silvertone and see for yourself. Nobody will go on the last straight through the grass on the right side of the track like all of the ‘drivatars’ do.
It’s not worries. Just curiosity.
There are some strange bahaviour in various tracks, yes, but you saying they are just random and the “data” of the drivatars is fake is like pushing some conspiracy theory. hehe
The most annoying thing is that trick with the super fast cars and zero mistakes some of them get eventually. I have seen that only in friends though.
Either them doing it early and staying in first place or trying to catch you when you are first.
It would make sense to me if someone from my friendslist that is a good driver would be faster than someone on my friendslist that isnt. I’ve raced enough races offline to see that there isnt any difference at all between them.
So you should race more races then lol. Jokes aside, there is difference. But that behaviour is only for the series/career part of the game. Not free race.
I’ve noticed the following: there are 2 groups of drivatars. Some are your “rivals”. (They are the few ones who also race with you on the events with traffic). They start on the grid back there with you.
The other group, the “dumb” drivatars are there to fill the grid up to the first place.
If one of your rivals manage to stay in your front it may eventually be first and it will be very hard to catch it.
If you manage to pass them and go all the way to front, you can notice one or more of those “rivals” approaching easily. They easily pass the “dumb” drivatars.
Also the behaviour of mistakes you said about Silverstone is true for the dumb drivatars. You can be fifth on the last lap and if there is no rival in front of you, they will all do silly mistakes like that and you get the first place easily.
Of course if you get the better car in the grid for a track the rivals will offer no challenge. But what’s the fun in that. I like to pick any car I like and sometimes do my own silly (terrible) upgrades.
And of course the 2/3 laps of the career events contribute to that. Both the short lenght of the events and this drivatar cheap artificial intelligence are annoying.
Hah, yeah 1172+ hours playing FM5 isn’t enough, I know.
Your right about the “rivals” that are on your friendlist; they are on average faster, but thats just because they have cars that are faster in a straight line and/or have a higher PI rating.
And at Silverstone: those aren’t mistakes, it is clearly programmed that way. There are many more of these “mistakes” on different tracks, at Sebring where they go off track after turn 10 or just before turn 17 to name a few.
As for those short races in career: T10 should have made the racelength optional (between 2 and 20 laps or so) years ago. This was already optional in the F1 games at least since 1996.
Yes, like I said, there’s difference. Those many hours were not needed to acknowledge that the first time. =P
Yes the mistakes are there for a reason, to let people win. And the rivals drivatar’s don’t always are using a better car. It’s also scripted the boost of speed. They even crash with others and still reach you.
I wonder if this is somehow a reason why people dislike this version more than any other. Sometimes I caught myself pressing pause to see the positions if a silly rival drivatar made all the way up to the front so I can spend less energy trying perfect cornering to reach it. Also the opposite, you are there trying really hard and a drivatar does a stupid unreal mistake and the position is won without effort.
You can also make them crash easily. Also the maneuver they do (sometimes crashing into you in a straight) when passing them is terrible. They all turn suddenly in the same manner. Like the thread creator said, sometimes is needed to be aggressive because of the stupid 2 lap races.
So, to reccomend this game to anyone this should be taken into consideration: Play free play, it’s awesome! The Series races are a waste of time. I only play for the completion.
