I’m curious, and i’ll have to research this a bit but maybe I can get the answer here.
I primarily am a drifter. As I am drifting in lobbies online, is my drivatar collecting that data? When someone races against my drivatar, will it take my racing line, or my drifting line (or a combination of the two, which is more likely)
If that is the case, there is the problem. My lines are completely different between race and drift. If it is combining my two lines, that is terrible!
I do notice, when the race is over and my drivatar takes over and starts to grip race, he takes his lines super wide. Where as when I race, I take a very tight line. But when I drift I take a wider line.
The drivatars can be quite frustrating at times I agree but they do add some realism to the game. I have raced on a local dirt track for years and I can tell you that the cars in the back of the pack can be very unpredictable and the ones in the front are usually much better. But even the bad drivers don’t normally brake halfway down the strait for the upcoming turns.
Career mode, Just call it Dodgems. Have drivertar set to Pro and can guarantee that the drivertars will spin you round, nock you off the track, don’t break into tight corners and then on a straight will brake for no reason as well as excessive speed above the cars limit. TURN 10 need to sort this out as career mode is pointless They are serpose to adapt to replicate everyone’s driving style and be more competitive. Instead they are worse than the A.I from forza 4.
That’s my moan out the way and know it will be ignored by turn 10 anyway. They just don’t care about joe public who keep them in a job and only care about profit.
Love the game, but the higher the difficulty the more aggressive the AI. On expert if I turn the damage to sim, by time I hit the second turn my car is FUBAR. I have to turn the damage to cosmetic. They seem to be all bent on smashing me out of the race. Makes it difficult to race when it’s 14-1. Plus the occasional rubber banding of them is annoying. I can get past on a straight by a less powerful car in the grass. It’s great I can smoke my friends times. But are their drivatars racing laps at the times they set or their style? It seems to be the times since I can be ahead but a good deal when a car comes out of nowhere and passes me. So far the not the biggest fan of the AI, thought forza 4s ran better on higher difficulties. Anyone else?
I remember the last time I played I had the difficulty set to unbeatable, and I found it dramatically reduced the amount of insanely stupid moves made by the drivatars. Getting rear ended and brake checked was still a problem, though.
You only have to read the threads regarding poor online multiplayer racing to see why drivatars perform like they do.
Mistakes, erratic behaviour, inconsistency are all driving traits we have taught our drivatars to do. Same for sideswipes and wipeouts. Nobody should be surprised at how the drivatars behave.
For career mode starting 14th every time for a mostly two lap race is a recipe for carnage. This has to be deliberate as the number of squeaky Clean races you achieve will be few and far between no matter how good you are and how skilled the drivatars are. Turn10 designed it that way.
So far as I can tell the career aspect of the game has been mostly structured for the ‘arcade’ mentality of pick up and play. Consider the deeper aspects of the game and the numerous bugs show where limited time was prioritised .
