This would be coincident with my experience in FH3 online racing. There is an unwritten, unspoken institution similar to a caste system, where the guys on top of the food chain are - usually - much, much cleaner and the dirty plebeians in the back crash endlessly.
Actually, in the beginning the ai was more professional but many players new to forza complained constantly the ai was too perfect and boring. I never had any issues with the old ai. You just had to also drive perfect and you will find they were a pleasure to race along side and in between. But, forza developers created community drivatars to satisfy those complaints. I think they should bring back the old ai and combine with the new drivatars system. This should be designed to have the professional ai in front of the pack while the cheesy cummunity drivatars are toned down in the back of the race. This way everyone would be satisfied, depending on your experience level, if you can’t hold a steady line, break too early, can’t avoid crashing the car in front of you, you will be in the back racing with the similar community drivatars. But if you race clean fast and alert, you will be able cruise up front to compete with the professional ai. And we always have to start at the rear of the race, right? please Rossi don’t get too far ahead at the start because I need some time getting pass the wreckers to catch up with you.
I agree with all of this. I’m only a few hours into the game and already properly frustrated with the AI. I play with Unbeatable AI - they are not intelligent as advertised pre-release. You can’t go two or three abreast without contact. They brake way too early and when you take advantage round the outside they push you wide or up the inside they turn into your rear quarter as you turn in but they somehow hold their line so you literally can’t get round the corner. I’m also not convinced that the rubber banding isn’t present in this game. It’s very strange how I can be clearly faster than an AI, overtake them cleanly, only for them to suddenly pick up the pace and have the speed to dive bomb me on corners making hard contact. Pro difficulty is just far too easy for experienced players.
I have to say that I have witnessed every o e of the traits you have mentioned! Sometimes it happens more often, sometimes less, but the fact that it happens is for sure.
The drivatars brakes too slow and blocks while in front of me at the corners, while drivatars are behind me at the corners, they forget to brake then crash into me. so if you are trying to race with the crowd, you will be turned into a banana sandwich smashed from the front and back. This forces me to either quit or just get in 1st position and race by myself solo staying away from them. It is the same way in fh3 but is not as aggravating because you can drive off track and avoid better. The sad thing is once the race begins in career, there is always the first five in front of you that tries hard to hold by blocking or brake checking like magnets in front of me while the first 3 ahead gets away at superman speed. When I finally get loose from the cram, those 3 in front are far ahead and are driving at the same exact speed as me around the track all the way until the end of the race, " must retry the race because you failed to get 3rd place". Dear forza, many of us have been playing since forza 1 we don’t need to retry races in catalunya for any reason. If drivatars must be this aggravating, please eliminate the requirement to reach 3rd in career mode. Any difficulty less than unbeatable feels like non competitive to me and in unbeatable, they will just ruin your experience by wrecking you all over the track so their 3 drivatars buddies can get a beat ahead and win. Now please don’t get it twisted, I’m not slow at racing, I’m somewhere in the hundreds in forza 6 pclass and currently top 10 in the world in fh3 in s2 class sweeping forest sprint down in Byron bay. I’m getting 1:01 sec, first place drivatars gets under 1:00. Some of you people claim the drivatars are easy to beat on unbeatable difficulty, I beg to differ. I think when you drive perfect and really fast the unbeatable drivatars are gonna go faster and when they pass you crashing you with their cars heavy as bricks, you are gonna go bye bye flying off the track. Please note, when I race slow in unbeatable, drivatars drive slow and I can out maneuver them and win easily. But when I ramp it up 10 notches and go alien speed, drivatars go faster, They seem to do 90 degree turns at 200mph and catch up REAL quick. I don’t really mind them catching up with me, I welcome the competition but it bothers me that they are glued to the track while SHOVING me OFF the track! Even if I move way to the side to allow them to pass, nope, its their duty to put me out. But I still enjoy the rest of this game.
Well in the campaign I think it is save to say you will be up against rossi and the old lot- this is shown in the e3 demo. Where you could pick each avtar which some said in thier had won the forza campaign thing.
Sorry about quoting myself, I know it seems kinda pretentious but bare with me. This is what I posted before FM7 came out explaining what is wrong about FM6’s drivatars / AI. A few weeks ago during the FM7 demo, I gave the drivatats more praise than I should have. They have made little to no improvement. The same problems still persist from 2 years ago and even 4 years ago all the way back to FM5. There has been no advancements in any department when it comes to the Drivatars that I see. In recent Forza Motorsport on the Xbox One and PC generation, you do not race with the AI. You simply try and avoid them and turn you’re race into a practice / hotlap session. That’s not right on any level.
I don’t care whether it’s Maria or Mario. All I care about is whether my family is going to die as soon as I overtake Rossi’s car like in the old games.
I would just like a setting that would change the opponents from Standard (pre-Drivatar AI) to Drivatar (the current AI) and vice versa. I do like the unpredictability of the Drivatars, but sometimes I just want a tight, clean race and the Drivatars are awful at that kind of racing.
Basically the Drivatars are too aggressive when they shouldn’t be, or they’re too conservative when they shouldn’t be. I’ve had Drivatars smack into my rear and just keep pushing, despite the fact a quick tap on their brakes would have gotten them off my bumper. I’ve also had Drivatars flip out when I get close (without making contact) and fly off the road to avoid me. They’re simply way too unpredictable to work correctly in realistic race settings. A lot of nonverbal cues are communicated via driving style, but Drivatars don’t have any of that nuance and they definitely can’t pick up on those signals from someone else, so most of subtle mind games and driving “language” from a real race is lost on them.
I honestly hope there aren’t unbeatable drivatars this time.
I decided to fire up FM6 yesterday and quickly realized why I got so frustrated as to stop playing completely. In a number of races, I could not win. It was literally impossible, because 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd place drivatars were still unbeatable. Within seconds of the start of the race, they are still somehow about half the track ahead, leaving the rest of us to fight to third or four place. In one race, first place actually lapped me on my third lap; on average difficulty…
Yeah, drivatars are pretty terrible. I’ve been revisiting the older titles and it is FAR more difficult. Moreso in Forza 2 and 3’s R class races where everyone had stock cars with various tunes, very difficult and close racing on the hard difficulty. They don’t give me any troubles. They were fairly easy on 4 though for me, though that’s just me. (i never saw a way to change difficulty)
When I played through forza 6, I just laughed. At “Pro”, the drivatars are pathetic. They all wreck eachother on the first corner and take absolutely horrible lines and brake on straights. You just simply weave your away around them and it’s an easy win! None of that could really be said about the classic AI though. The drivatar in first place at the start is actually a fair challenge under very strict conditions, for if you’re in another quick upgraded car which happens to be the same as their’s. They can be absolutely GONE if you aren’t quick. But in a standard build of your own it’s usually an easy win as I said.
By the way I have good news, Quixy. I think they were asked about this and they never mentioned ‘Unbeatable’. I think the highest is now ‘Pro’, so there you go. Best to avoid Unbeatable unless you’re actually very good.
Almost forgot to mention, I think I better name for Drivatars is Drivatards, because they drive like total retards!
I wouldnt expect much to change, however i believe they toned down some of the aggression even tho i think they should leave it as it is representative of what the drivers in the forza series have to drive like when forced to do 3 lap sprints. With that said i also believe they mentioned less rubber banding of the ai.
