Hi! I wrote some questions at Motorsport 5 drift forum but nobody cared I started with drifting recently in Horizon 4. Three stars are easy for me. So I moved to Motorsport 7 for bigger challenge (less assistents). It was harder but not that much I thought. I play on controller, everything off. Then I tried Motorsport 5 with same car and tune and it was completely impossible to drift. I invested one week into it and then I am able to do some drifts but transitions are still hard as hell. So my question is if Motorsport 7 has some noob assistent by default or Motorsport 5 has strange drifting physics? Thanks!
In numbers. I can drift with all my focus around 5k drift in M5 but easily 10k+ in M7.
I wasn’t completely correct. M7 has drifting suspensions of course like Horizon 4. Still when I try race suspensions it is easier to drift in M7 but with drifting suspension it is much easier. Is for instance handling different for drifting suspensions?
Sim steering is a little sharper, but it makes it super duper easy to overcorrect when you’re drifting. I feel pretty confident that’s your problem.
Yeah, I know. I wrote about it to M5 forum. When I turned it off I was able to get two drifting achievements. But standard driving is like driving with other guy who helps you with steering (mostly counter-steering is strange). It feels pretty bad. But in Motorsport 7 must be something similar to holding the angle by default, because I can’t be that good that fast I guess.
I think steering is a bit broken in M5. Looks like low steering sensitivity to me. I know exactly where I want my wheels but they are always somewhere else (slow input). Throttle is really tricky too but without steering it’s not possible to drift.
Again, I tried M5, M6 and M7. 5 is almost impossible, 6 is better but 7 is really easy. How is it possible? Maybe some steering tuning on controller? I guess it’s mostly for controller players because wheel should be always the same. Don’t know but won’t drift in 5 for sure.
7 is easier because angle lots surely? Also I think the drifting physics have been slightly improved each game. What issues are you having with drifting? Could be anything from your build, time or even just the way you drive.
You are right but I don’t have a problem with angle too much. For instance, it’s almost not possible to go from one drift to another in M5. It’s only about luck because your wheels are too slow to turn that you can only guess actual position. I think standard steering solves it but standard is strange. In 6 reactions feels a bit faster so I am able to drift better.
In M7 it is pretty easy even without a proper tune. I know drifting suspensions has good enough default. Getting grip again is very smooth when I drift with racing tires. I use racing normally because it’s normal in Horizon. Getting grip back in 5 is completely different and it moves the whole car… as it should probably.
In Gran Turismo sport it’s easy as in M7. So I am not sure what is different in M5.
After some time with other Forzas I tried it again and it’s obvious that steering is completely unresponsive and that’s the reason for impossible drifting. One solution could be a wheel instead of controller. Another one should be other guy in your car helping with steering - normal steering.
