I think the devs went too far with engine swaps.
Engine swaps should have stayed as it was in FM3 or FM4 - brand limited.
LS swaps are ok too, actually everything is ok as long as it’s REALISTIC enough - in other words - if someone actually did some crazy engine swap in REAL LIFE it could be implemented in FH3.
THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF EXAMPLES, those are just few:
1.Dodge Dart with Viper engine - same brand, let’s say it’s acceptable (still not possible from construction point of view)
2.Mercury Coupe with Viper/Lambo engine - sure let’s put an XXI century engine into engine bay of 67 year old car, sure, yeah , VERY realistic. To mount such engine you would have to modify the whole car, including the frame, literally everything. (I’m a mechanic in RL - I know what I’m talking about)
3.Ford Escort RS1800 with 6.2L V8 - where the hell would you even put this engine? on the roof? seriously.
4.Jaguar D-type with… - I won’t even comment this, really, this thing is TOTALLY ridiculous.
5.Shelby Raptor - Just imagine a quick little chat - “Hey dude, I bought Shelby Raptor yesterday!” “Great mate, let’s put a lambo engine in it!”
6.Shall I continue?
I know it’s a pure arcade game, but all I see on the drag strip are Dodge Darts/Mercury Coupes. All I want is to balance engine swaps so that we can have more variation/more choices with cars in drag races.
I’m just going to put this here lol. Nothing in FH3 is as ridiculous as what people do in IRL. To me it sounds like you don’t like the way they made the engine swaps, So there for its not broken. And also apparently you don’t know much about Australia’s car culture if you are complaining about engine swaps in this game which takes place in Australia lol.
I’m not arguing just saying how are they broken if they were purposely put in the game by the devs lol. Please explain how they are broken? If you don’t want to see just those cars on the strip than you should find some friends who you race/drag race against with balanced engine/engine swaps. Just making a point here. Your broken is different than being actually broken in game like they are glitched out or bugged or don’t work at all.
As long as the engine physically fits into a car I am fine with it. I also don’t like those where it really doesn’t make sense, like those tiny hatchbacks where a 2l S4 is the absolute maximum and you can then put a V12 in it…that’s just a bit too much.
Honestly if you don’t like the way they made this game then why play it at all? they give us this stuff to have fun, its a video game not IRL, so they let us have fun with this kind of stuff. If they made the game based from IRL restrictions there wouldn’t be much in the game for us to do. The only problem I have is the RB26 and 2JZ engines not having that much HP compared to what you can get them to IRL versions of the cars. If your the kind of person that doesn’t like to have fun with these kind of engine swaps than you are just plain boring. Just my opinion not an argument.
I don’t know if I agree with OP, but this argument is not valid. He should not have to love it or leave it, he is asserting that a game mode is broken and has given his reasons.
With cars like Dodge Dart or Mercury Coupe drag racing is sort of limited. Those cars completely dominate. With their engines swapped they are overpowered.
It’s not like I don’t want to see some engines in some cars. All I want (and I think everyone does) is to balance engine swaps in the way that would not limit drag races to couple of cars that are unbeatable.
In C class nothing will even compete with Mercury. Same thing goes for Dodge Dart in S1 (or was it S2?).
Just think about it. I mean, I don’t even do drag racing that often, I prefer normal races, because those require skill, you need to brake there, slow down here. In drag races it’s just a straight road.
Go to the airport carclub and see for yourself. Try to beat those cars, then come back and tell me it’s completely normal.
EDIT: Then there is the topic of pointless swaps or swaps that “wouldn’t even fit in my Honda”.
This is absolutely true. The only way to beat stop a Dart or a Coupe from winning is to get ahead of them in a fast D Class and ram/pit them off the road xD.
I don’t even understand why people race those cars, how can it be any fun? I love tuning EVERY car I get and it’s the weird cars that you didn’t expect to be any good that are super fun. I have a D class fiat Eessesse that can do 29.9 which I’m pretty proud of. I’m just basically going through the cars alphabetically and tuning them all and it’s a blast, I feel sorry for people who spent all their time on 1 or 2 cars – you are missing so much.
I agree that I preferred the Manufacturer restricted swaps of previous Forza Games. I don’t think it’s any more broken now than it was before though, it’s just my personal preference. That said, I laughed my butt off when in the only online drag race I participated in, my S1 Meyr’s Manx kicked two S2 Skyline’s into the dirt.
