FORZA MOTORSPORT’S NEW AI AND PHYSICS MAKE EVERY RACE COMPETITIVE
17 July 2023- Chris Esaki
Forza Motorsport delivers clean, fun and competitive racing in both single-player and multiplayer. We’ve prioritized our development efforts on circuit racing with modern race cars and modern production cars. This focus impacts the entire game, from the cars and tracks we’ve included to, the new rendering features, physics, AI and gameplay experiences that we have built.
With that in mind, we want to let you know we will not have drag or drift game modes available at release. We will, however, have drag tires, as well as drift suspension, available as car upgrades and you can enjoy them in experiences like private Meetup lobbies.
Forza Motorsport will be updated after launch, so if there are Drag Racing features you’d like to see added to the game, please upvote topics or submit new ideas in our Suggestions Hub section of the forums.
The Horizon Features and Motorsport Features voting data goes to their respective developer teams, so if users want the same things in Forza Motorsport, they should upvote or create topics in:
Just like with FH5, A Class builds running drag tyres that lower the PI score (compared to other compounds) so they can pump more bhp into them before tuning out the handling quirks (plus the benefit of having a mega launch)
Personally I don’t think tyres should factor into PI score. I understand the thinking with it as obviously tyres do improve a cars performance dramatically but when it comes to racing tyre options should be presented based on the event you’re joining just prior to it starting instead
I can’t believe you will be seeing much on the drag racing front, Forza has yet to push this mode much at all. Unfortunate really. The only thing that would keep the drag racers from leaving is an actual ladder style multiplayer mode. Something that they can use to create tournaments. Also, proper modifications to engines and cars. FH4 recently got the 68 Firebird, and you can’t even max it out in A class with the original engine (something like 550 hp max). As long as they continue to push the “V12 in everything” model, I could care less.
Friday and Saturday nights the Unlimited AWD lobby is pretty active if you use a mic.
I’m still wondering if the Experimental Drag Mode will ever be used for multiplayer. Multiplayer drag racing is so much fun with a mic and headset and fast people to compete with but there are so many ways it could be improved on FM8. I really hope they don’t neglect that side of the game.
I’ll do FM8 but I am not expecting much in terms of drag racing out of the game. It would be great to see the real aspects of drag racing brought to the game but I am not hopeful. Things like reaction times and red light could really change setups and not see the same types of builds over and over. Bracket racing would also be a great way to see what types of car and engine combos are being used. But not hopeful.
They put it on the wrong track in Forza7…should have been on the airport…and you should be able to red light. But like the 8 lane lobby a few complained and they stopped it …the ones that complained don’t even race any more…
I believe you are going to loose a huge chunk of the community not even wanting to try it because they only do drift, drag like my self and all of my friends. Makes it alot bigger of a hassle to all load into one map and figure out how to drift or drag race with out turns becomes a nightmare.
I’ve always thought of you were installing drag tires on car then it should automatically change fronts to skinny’s (on rwd cars and rear to skinny on fwd)
One of the reasons fh sucks so much for rivals / high lvl online racing is most of the cars used rally and drag tires to break the system and end up being faster on most tracks then people using normal types of tires
I quit fh after 2 -3 weeks due to this when it first came out and haven’t touched the game since everyone using broken cars to win / rival times
If I wanted broken online racing I’d just go play gt7
