DOWN WITH THE PRIZE CRATES

with the recent events with EA and loot boxes,we have to look into other games like forza who are doing this malicious practice.NOW is the time we have to fight these loot boxes and make forza be what it was a game with no need for these things
That is why we have to pressure turn 10 developers to put quality first instead of loot boxes.Let’s not give up

I don’t think Turn 10 will remove them from FM7, but hopefully all the outcry and complaints will prevent them from appearing in future Forza titles.

I hate the inclusion of them in this game, but at least they can’t be bought with real money at the moment and considering everything happening at the moment, I don’t expect that to change in the near future.

The prize crates in Forza aren’t some microtransaction scam. Nor are they really new to the series, being a mix of the card packs from 6 and the purchasable spins from FH3.

Our Minister of Justice (Belgium) recognized them as actual gambling and wants to take legal action. This means pass it to the EU and hope they actually do something against it.
If they do, other countries will follow and hopefully we won’t see those horrible crates again

Unless/until Forza puts in the option to buy them with real money, it doesn’t appear that the proposed ban would apply.

They are “optional” but the removal of bonuses from taking assists off and adding fuel and damage disappeared, so it could be argued that the game is more grindy and less rewarding as a result. It’s very easy to tweak an economy to make microtransactions more appealing. Microtransactions were “optional” in Battlefront 2 and that didn’t work out well.

That’s true, but if Turn couldn’t or weren’t allowed to monetise loot boxes, do you think they would have been added in the first place?

US senators now involved.

For those not keeping up. Govts investigating this behaviour:

UK, AUS, US, EU.

Regulation incoming. The lesson to Game companies, stop being greedy and doing deceptive things.

I like them. Saw my first YouTube video dedicated to opening them (like the popular Fifa ones) and it was fun. If they decide to make them available for real money I won’t buy them because like VIP and car packs, they will just make getting the achievements quicker/easier. I’m more than happy getting full value for money without spending more money

You Don’t need to use them and you aren’t forced to either
They are totally optional…i don’t use them at all
And you Dont use real money to buy them…you actually can’t…yet

I hate loot boxes but it looks like this is the way gaming is going. It’s not enough to just buy a game on this generation of console they want to tip you upside down and shake all that money out with loot boxes, micro transactions, day one DLC, VIP, season passes. (I often wonder if Sony are as bad with these practices as Microsoft because I don’t want to switch to just to get more of the same. I never played on a PS3 so maybe I should try that.)

I doubt it was Turn 10’s decision to put them in, they add nothing to the game and yes you might not be able to pay for them yet but there can only be one reason for putting them in and that is to get us used to them before they push them harder in the next game like EA have with BFII.

People will still buy it and people will continue to pre order for a couple of shiny trinkets so why would they do anything else?

The only thing to buy for crates is the $50k mods crate. This will easily pay itself off with the long race setting in career. The driver gear and low quality cars from the other crates are not good investments credit wise. As long as the crates only cost credits and not real money will I only invest in the ones that dont make me lose credits. I still believe that adding these loot crates is part of a new culture of games where developers try to squeeze every penny and deliver the least amount of content in return. I would like to see this completely removed from games in general.

It should be clear up to this point that Forza 7 is based entirely off loot crates. Nothing is going to change and no one is forcing you to buy them.

Also, pressuring Turn 10 isn’t such a bright idea. They’ve gotten enough flak from release and probably lost a ton of money from refunds. Why make them suffer more because you don’t like loot crates?

I think this game is fair with prize crates.

You have to understand, more than likely, loot boxes are our fault.

Several years ago, Junior was crying and screaming because he couldn’t win the prize in his video game. Mother, frustrated with the child, finally wrote to the developer pleading for them to come up with another method for the child to win the prize. Even stating “I will gladly pay you for it!”.

Hence, Loot Boxes were born.

It’s kind of like telemarketers. If people didn’t buy their stuff… they wouldn’t be selling it.

So, instead of complaining to the developer to stop offering them, you should be pleading with the players to stop buying them.

The loot boxes in Battlefront 2 were fundamentally tied to game progression to the point where players were almost forced into buying them. That was what the general outcry was about. The loot crates in Forza have nothing to do with game progression, and there is absolutely no outlying factors influencing you to buy them.

Except you can’t earn extra credits from turning your assists off anymore so you have to use them to get a reasonable pay out.

Don’t mind them in this game. They don’t hinder your success unlike other games.

I’d say this is a fairly neutral loot box implementation. Always nice to have a way to blow excess credits.
