Am I wrong? Is my hardware defected? Using manual H-Shifting and Clutch, downshifting into 4th gear and sometimes other gears, often results in dropping the gear into second gear or some other gear! Which results in the locking up the rear wheels and often damaging the engine or transmission! I’m sick of this. I want to drive in manual with clutch. But it is impossible in race conditions! And real cars NEVER go into the wrong gear when you put them in them in the correct gear slot! But in this “Sim” ill-timed clutch work results in shifting into the wrong gear! Either fix the damn thing or tell me my G920 Shifter is defected.
It’s your shifter
OK, but I wonder why when I take great care at using the clutch the problem doesn’t occur? But thanks for answering. I’ll have to drive some other games to see if the same problem happens. I’ll drive the pCars 2 demo some more. I have a G920 setup.
The damage is probably from downshifting too quickly and not rev matching/blipping the throttle. I don’t think there is any downshift protection in the game.
Are you using heel & toe?
Too add, PC2 has downshift protection meaning down shifting won’t hurt but you can’t just drop gears instantly if the revs are too high.
Yes, I heal and toe, and also rev match. The problem is if I downshift too quickly from fifth gear to fourth, my car goes into second gear? The shifter itself is in the 4 gear slot, but in the game, the car goes into 2nd gear? Which of course causes over-revving and locking up of the drive wheels. Maybe it is a shifter mechanical defect. Hate to have to take it apart, don’t even know what to look for. But I can always paddle shift those faster cars.
It’s Definatley something with the shifter, especially if you are certain that it’s in the correct slot. I have a spare one not in use that I can pull apart and take some photos to see what could cause an issue like that if you would like?
PS. I have had some similar issues with my clubsport shifter and also an older porsche shifter that was cause by a dodgy wire in the cable that goes from the shifter to the wheel, I recon you should check that first.
