doubt i will buy another forza game

after trying the game for the past couple of months, it is apparent to me that the automatic-return-to-center (while fully stopped, with FF set to 0) is not going to be resolved on horizon 3. this is a HUGE disappointment to me, since i have loved playing forza since forza 2 on the Xbox 360 with the Microsoft wheel. but if the racing wheel’s are not going to be supported properly in forza(on the Xbox at least), then i refuse to buy another.

i would have loved to try playing forza on my computer (my rig can handle it), but the play anywhere feature will not work for me and i cant get any response from Microsoft as to why or how to fix it, so i cant even try it there.

it just seems that the players on the are being left out of the loop here on everything from the most recent updates, to what they are working on and even just getting a response back from turn 10. i have heard that you have to wait for a response, but its been well over a month since i emailed them and have gotten no response back.

i spent the $100 on this game because i thought it was going to be great like the rest of the forza games. but if im forced to use a controller for a racing game, then i feel like i have wasted my money. not only the $100 for horizon 3, but the $400 for my wheel setup as well. heck, forza 5 was the one single reason that i bought the xbox one.

surely i cant be the only one who feels this way?

From my humble perspective and presenting you a list of the racing games I own on XBox One :

Group 1 :
Forza 5
Forza 6
Forza Horizon 2
Forza Horizon 3
Need For Speed

Group 2 :
Project CARS
DiRT Rally
F1 2016
Assetto Corsa

Everything in group 1 is better played with a controller, everything in group 2 is better played with a wheel (my wheel specs are in my signature). If I try to play group 1 games with a wheel I get frustrated and disappointed. If I try to play group 2 games with a controller I’m in the exact same boat.

From my own experience wheel support has been mediocre-to-poor in every Forza game on the XBox One. I don’t know how it was on XBox 360 since I was not playing it back then. I found in FM6 at some point I had my wheel working at “acceptable levels” but it was nowhere near as good and as fun as I could configure it in Project CARS for most cars. But when Assetto Corsa released in Aug 2016 the bar has been raised to a whole new level of what wheel settings, feel and FFB on a console could and should be. It leaves everything else out there in the dust.

Using a controller in the Forza series is something special, the game is full of controller cheats, for starters you simply cannot oversteer and your steering input gets softened a lot, it is not a direct input of the likes of Assetto Corsa with a controller and the reason the “tick tick tack tack” steering works so great in this game. Try playing Assetto Corsa with the “tick tick tack tack” mentality and you will get frustrated a lot. It sure isn’t realistic but purely from an arcade-fun point of view it’s fun enough.

I was angry at Turn 10 during the FM6 year as well because wheel support was so mediocre and controllers are so easy. But that was still because I was looking at the game as what I wanted to be my number one sim. Fast forward to today I have come to the acceptance that Forza Motorsport is not a sim, it is simply a difficult arcade game that wants to look like a sim. With that mindset I have accepted Forza Motorsport for what it is, a fun arcade track racer with great graphics, lots of cars and tracks and which is best played lying stretched out in my sofa playing with a controller under a blanket. Forza Horizon 3 falls into the exact same category except that it’s even easier to drive and you have some really nice background music.

If I want to race as realistic as possible, I step into my racing rig in my other room and I fire up Assetto Corsa, Project CARS or DiRT Rally for what is for me a much more realistic and authentic feeling of actually driving or racing a car.

i have basically the same games as you - need for speed and F1 2016. the NFS series got aweful after the latest hot pursuit(racing on rails).

i didnt want horizon 3 to feel like asseto corsa (awesome ffb btw!), i just wanted it to be like the other forza games. none of the other ones have the stupid automatic return to center like horizon does. at one point, an update on project cars made auto return to center mandatory, so i gave up on it (need to try it again though).

i loved the easy to drive feeling on horizon 2, but i dont get that feeling because it takes so much more input to turn the wheel in horizon 3. you cant just casually drive around in horizon 3 without feeling like there is someone else pulling at the wheel to keep it straight. i understand that cars are supposed to have the wheel return to center while moving(effects of castor while moving), i dont have a problem with that. but when its the same pull towards center at 200 as it is at 5 mph, something is not right.

Play FM6 competitively and you’ll realize it isn’t easy on controller. I break loose all the time in FM6 (not so much in FH3) so it’s definitely not easy on controller. Not sure why you’re struggling to break loose. Kinda odd actually.

But yes, play Forza on controllers. It feels more natural especially if you drop the front deadzone to 0. Sim steering also feels pretty good for some cars too.

Breyzipp got money yo. Pretty sweet gaming setups.

Apart from the center spring the wheel feels great on FH3. Not perfect though. Turn 10 never fixed the wheel in FM6 even after god knows how long a thread on the forums but Playground or turn 10 (don’t know who takes wheel resposibilities on FH3) did take time to update FH3’s force feedback, so maybe in the coming update there may be something… hopefully. As for Forza being better on a controller. I argue against that… especially in H3 but a controller is much more optimized and much easier to use imo.

I agree completly, the wheel play in forza has always been in the shadow of the gamepad. Horizon 3 ffb was changed because it was game breaking levels of bad, but it only seems like they did a quick copy and paste from Apex.

I have to use my wheel in playtation mode to get it to function properly, I’ve had to add my own solution to get the handbrake working, and the sequential mode on my shifter doesn’t work.

From a AAA title like forza who have been here for over 10 years now, it’s unacceptable.

l have to latch on to the Need For Speed (2015) recommendation… lf you literally, want to drive in a racing game, do not get the game. Everything else apart from the actual driving, is nice. But the game is undrivable. There is a constant 0.5 second delay to all steering inputs and the game does minute auto steering after that. l resent that game because l feel it had strong chances of resurrecting NFS and they fell on such a pathetic mistake. lt’s such a shame.

Have you tried asking for help in the pc support section on here for help with the play anywhere issue
Or read through the help section in the pc support section

the problem im having with it, is that it just simply doesnt show up in my games library.

i think maybe the issue im having is because i bought the game on this profile, but downloaded it with my main profile on the xbox?

quick story, i got the xbox one and wanted to make a new gamertag for my new car (chevy sonic, aka hedgehog), but then i couldnt get the rewards from playing the previous forza titles, so i stuck with my other gamertag.

could that be why it isnt showing up in either of my game libraries on the pc?

Try logging into your pc with that gamertag/profile and see if it shows up
It should only work on PC with the actual profile/ gamertag that actually bought it though

Play anywhere only works with the gamertag/profile that actually buys it
If you used the gamertag/profile on the xbone to download it .it actually sounds like that was the gamertag/profile that has ownership to it

right, but the issue is that it wont show up for either gamertag on the pc.

Ah that’s weird
Your pc definitely meets all the minimum requirements ans is fully updated to the latest build of windows 10..the last bit stopped being able to originally install it
