Really trying to figure out if by purchasing the digital copy on xbox one and living in California, I’ll be able to play at 9:01pm? It makes it sound like the release via digital copy is a flat, everyone in the US gets it at 12:01am EDT. Does anybody know within the community or T10?? Would love to know if us west coasters get a 3 hour freebie thanks to an all encompassing release time!

I’m 99% sure that is the case. The Xbox store says “Game will unlock at approximately 12:01 EDT” So if you are on the west coast that will be 9.

I hope you’re being sarcastic. If more people took good things in life as a bonus rather than as something deserved, this world wouldn’t be what it is.
The game has been said to be released in North America on September 30. Every minute before is a bonus, and not something you should expect - regardless of what wording you’ve seen. Even if there was a typo, such a mistake is no reason to expect something in return.

I think it will be available at 9:01, but I am not 100% sure. If it isnt, then I would call xbox and have them refund you. It does say it will be available for everyone at 12:01 eastern. That means 9:01 for us Washingtonians.
Ask for a refund over a potential typo that might delay your game play by just three hours? Are you serious??

Looks like i’ll be playing at midnight till probably 2ish.
Should be enough to get a few cars racked up and modded.
You’ll never get a refund if you downloaded digitally. I bet you’d have more luck pulling a tooth from a rabid raccoon.

actually ive gotten 3 digital refunds from MS… first was battlefield 4… then was titanfall… then i bought spiderman 2 for $60 and like two days later it got dropped to $40… so i got a refund, then re-purchased it for $40 haha
Just bet on midnight in whatever time zone you’re in and if you get it earlier, it’ll be a nice surprise.

Not sure about the digital download folks, but my Gamestop representative just left me a voice message informing me that I can swing by the store (5 mins drive) and pick up my physical preorder copy at 9:01PM today. i’m in California btw.
Yes it is “supposed” to be EST. It seems to depend on the Dev which time zone. Yes Destiny was 3AM for us and that did suck.
Tried to convince my XB1 it was in Amsterdam, instead of Texas, but it didn’t believe me
