Something’s gotta be done about all the people who go into the auction house and buy out the first car they see, which is usually just about to end, when they could go down the list just a tiny bit and grab one with like 3 hours left that nobody’s bidding on. Or better yet, maybe just take out the buyout option once someone’s bid on a car, so if you want it, you have to win it from them.
Why?
Because every bidding war ends because someone with more money than brain cells can’t scroll through a list
It sounds like the Auction rules aren’t the problem.
I have never been beaten by a buyout but sure they seemed to have more money than smarts. But i have the same options every other buyer has.
lmao.
So true
Happens to me almost every auction I participate in, to the point where the only reason I use the auction house anymore is to grab a buyout that’s cheaper than the car in the autoshow.
And ManteoMax, it’s easier to change the rules than the mentality, unless you’re somehow implying it’s a problem with me
Well… if you can’t beat 'em, join 'em, right? Unless I’m misunderstanding. You want to change the rules so you don’t have to pay as much as everyone else? Or you want to lift the buyout cap so you can outbid everyone?
If every auction is ending in a buyout, that’s an indication of demand, so you would expect to pay a premium.
If every current auction ends in a buyout but the future auctions don’t have any bids, why not just hit the buyout on one before everyone else?
Plenty of cars to go around. I have had not one issue of people buying out any car I go for. Which are HE cars usually. No one in their right mind would pay $5,500,000 for a HE car. For the everyday ones, If someone buys out the action, bid on the next one with 2 minutes left. Rinse and repeat until you get the one you want. (Unless it’s rare, in which case buy it out yourself Leaving it is a calculated risk which makes things interesting.)
I have been outbid on cars, always an HE, but once I determine that what I want to spend (or have as I am always low on credits) I always get what I want. I have not had the problems with buyouts that you are talking about.
So instead of being bought out and moving on you prefer to just sit there and re-bid over and over against each other until one of you eventually reaches the buyout anyway?
Believe me, whoever bought out the auction just saved you both a ton of time.
So, your mad that people dare buyout cars?
Seems to me they just saved you 10 minutes of bidding again and again and again
While i think its crazy and at times i believe the buyout is done by AI because at times a buyout just doesnt make any sense I think your suggestion is ridiculous! I have had people do what you have described to me plenty of times and it annoys me, yes it does, but I believe its fair. Why do I think its fair? Because I have done the same thing to others before (especially if the buyout price is great and I don’t want to waste time). In fact a couple of days ago a 62 ferrari 250 gto went up on an hour auction, it started iirc at 2 million credits, I prayed to the auction gods no one would notice and I’d get it for that price but a bidding war began between about 7-8 bidders. Buyout was 8 million, I told myself that if it got to 7 million I would use the buyout option and thats just what I did.
Dont get emotional, its business, so approach it as such. Also, do yourself a favor and don’t get into a bidding war on a car with a low buyout because more often than not its going to get bought out.
You sound like you’re just mad because the auction buyers are big meanies.
I’m not mad because I don’t get the chance to bid, I’m annoyed because I regularly waste a good five minutes per auction staying on top of a bid that I’m winning, only to have someone buy it out, even though if they looked literally 5 cars down the list, there’d be the exact same cars with an hour until the auction ends, that nobody’s bidding on.
I see the appeal of the buyout option, it’s good for people who want to save a couple bucks without spending a lot of time bidding. but the way the list is right now, the first car people see is the one that people are putting in the effort to bid on.
My problem is that they way people are using it now, with the exception of HE cars, it’s not so much an auction house, but rather just a used car lot. There’s plenty of cars in the auction house, so why just buy out.
There’s nothing wrong with buying out auctions. The seller gets all they could have hoped for and the buyer gets the car.
Buyouts on active auctions aren’t as common but they do happen. Most people buying out cars are doing so because they want to use the car, not resell it for higher value.
Nothing bad here. The auction floor can get intense. Handle the heat or don’t feed the fire.
I’m just shocked nobody here has the same problem I do, I wish I were exaggerating, I have had maybe TWO of the dozens of auctions I’ve participated in not end in a buy out. But whatever, there’s a reason I posted it here before the wish list, guess I won’t bother
I won’t lie i hardly ever bid, i mostly just buy it out. I really can not see what the major issue is here, i would rather just buy it out than have to keep waiting and by the time i think i have won a car get an out bid notification.
No one else has this problem because it’s not a problem, It’s how auctions work. If some Richie Rich wants to bid millions more than anyone else to make sure they get it, then they get it. It doesn’t matter that they weren’t even part of the bidding til the last bid/buy out price.
Plain and simple if they bid the buyout price than they wanted it more than anyone else bidding on the car.
I guess this discussion is kinda pointless anyway considering I can’t even play the game for more than 20 minutes at a time anymore, Hey Max, could you lock this thread? It served it’s purpose.
