Do people actually LIKE Eliminator?!

I enjoy it. Far more skill and experience baked in than a casual E! player would realize. But I also enjoy free roam rush so I’m just odd, I guess.

No, they don’t. Very low completion rate on the 50 matches achievement.

But PG will never admit to it! lol

(as a side note, they don’t like Super7 either)

Getting more modes related to actual motorsport might be nice (I desperately want a dedicated hill climb mode, we should get an official Formula Offroad expansion, as well as some focus on rock climbing), but to be honest I don’t mind Horizon embracing the Arcade Racer vibe.
A lot of the stuff we’re doing now is the stuff of dreams from the arcade games of yesteryear.

What Playground games is demonstrating here is that they understand the fundamentals of Gaming as a whole, even if that doesn’t fit in the “simcade” box that a lot of us would want Forza Horizon to live in, it shows that the people making the game have ambition to keep having fun with their creations.

I can’t fault Playground for trying to cast a wider net either.
We definitely do want kids to have fun with cars, real cars and not just Mario Kart, that way we might still have a wide audience for Motorsport in the coming years. It’s important to find a middleground.

I think this exact thought every time I see the same malcontents wretching all over the game, whether it’s about cross country, free roam rush, playground games, the Eliminator, and now to some degree Super7; if it’s not on a flat and dry strip or oval of asphalt, they have a big problem with it. This game is all about being flexible and adapting to your environment and the malcontents are anything but that; if static, dull environments is what they want, I suggest they go back to Motorsport where they have that in spades. The cover art for the game, shown right at the beginning when starting the game features the sexy McLaren Senna, but that’s not all – the old Land Rover Defender is depicted blasting through a stone wall. That image told us everything we needed to know about what to expect from this game, even BEFORE day 1.

The ‘serious’ racers got their nod with Ranked. The drifters got a drift adventure of their own. Eliminator was simply the off-roaders turn for enjoyment. Today, it’s the creatives turn to get their jollies with Super7. Why is all that so difficult to see and understand? How did we get to the point where anything less than 100% of everyone’s personal expectations all of the time is flat out unacceptable and untenable? I am so sick and tired of the constant elitist and condescening attitudes in this game and the gluttonous “me-me-me feed cater to me us all everything that only I want all the time” garbage. It’s not healthy mentally for anyone and certainly not the game.

Eliminator isn’t exactly what I was looking for here, either. I don’t do it much anymore, but that’s still more than I play Fortnite now (which is close to never). Playground offered me a little side dish, I consumed it and got what there was to get out of it. NEXT. Moving on. Why can’t the malcontents? I suppose it’s because that’s just who they are. This probably goes without saying, but had PG not cast this wide a net, or any net for that matter, I’d bet you dollars to donuts the very same malcontents with fulltime jobs defacating all over anything and everything related to this game would instead rattling on endlessly that PG isn’t doing enough, needs to expand their horizon (pun intended), try new things, needs to be daring, do something brave, etc, and that they’re so bored, need some stimulation, playground do something anything hurry! …and on and on and on.

So, Playground tried. Didn’t want to dry hump it? :man_shrugging:t2: Okay, so sorry; go find something else to your liking.

I liked it. I might be biased - did around 1000 Eliminators with win ratio around 1/3.
Many people don’t enjoy freeroam rush, so I would say it is not for them.
Luck is needed sometimes, but if someone says that Eliminator is luck-based, I will say that he need to learn map.
On the other side, despite my not bad win ratio, last time I played it was like 6+ months ago. Can’t tell why I lost interest. Maybe lack of leaderboards/raknings?

PS. Would still replace seasonal PGG with Eliminator participation.

I love it. Actually I loved it since day one.
It’s intense. Sometimes i got really scared when I saw others approaching, especially in the early days.
It improved my off road driving skills to the point that I actually enjoy CC events too.
It drastically improved my map knowledge to the point that I know where are the unbreakable objects even when hidden.
It made me learn how to open-look at finish-close the map in a few tenths of a second. A unique skill you may say. XD
It made me appreciate some cars that I usually don’t drive much.
It’s a unique experience you won’t find in any other game. Pls don’t start with some Fortnite nonsense because you know is not even remotely close.
I spent more than double the amount of time in Eliminator than I spent in both expansions combined.
It actually take less time to join a game that any online adventure even today. I guess it’s still popular and I really hope it would make it to the next Horizon.

I enjoy it. It’s not overly deep, as far as mechanics, but it’s a fun distraction.

I’d wishlist actual mechanic changes to it if they revamp it to retain in FH5:

  • instead of head to head being elimination, make each one take 33% of your ‘health’/timeout bar.
(would probably need to increase game time to accommodate)
  • instead of just full car drops, have ‘upgrade’ drops (eg: keep your car but bump from A to B class or whatever).
(and thoroughly blue-sky stuff, how about Mario Kart style ‘weapons’)
  • add extreme weather conditions to affect visibility
(and then imagine a dark night map with heavy fog reducing distance visibility and having to actually creep around looking for drops and other drivers to challenge)

I get that people hate it, I suppose. In my opinion it just needs to be more battle royale-like for increased enjoyment.

I like the Eliminator. and I really hope it will be included in next Horizon title. It’s great that Forza Horizon 4 offers so many different game modes. It’s the beauty of this game. You can play however you want to play.
I did not like it at the beginning, but after a while it grew on me. It’s far better entertainment than Super 7 and PGG.

By playing the eliminator I have learned few cool features of the map that I would otherwise never experience.
Out of all online game modes I play this most. Far more enjoyable than being rammed by a team mate in team racing.
