DLC Why the big secret?

Why does the DLC each month need to be such a secret? Show everyone whats coming out next. Build up excitement and sell the dlc before its due out. Give us something to look forward to at least. A car manufacturer launches its cars months before its released on sale even a year before from concept to sale.

They make people come back to check what cars are coming out in the game.

It seems to me that this is happening the way Turn10 does it now.

looks around and realizes where we are and what we are discussing

If people knew what was coming out in advance, wouldn’t they also come back to discuss it and because they’re excited about the product?

What secret DLC? Everything came out.

Do you own the game?

Do you read the Week in Review articles?

I know the answer to at least one of those questions is no.

I don’t care when they tell us what it us. I just hope its more than the Infiniti pack.

I used to read it… And I don’t have the game.

Mech confirmed on the live stream there are no more monthly packs…

But he didn’t say there wouldn’t be more DLC…

I was there when he said that. The monthly comment can be interpreted different ways.

We definitely are no longer getting a regular 10 car pack every month. Doesn’t mean we won’t get an ad hoc 10 car pack.

But I will expect nothing more than 2 Infiniti cars. If I get more than that then it will be a bonus. And yes I mean I am interpreting the so called secret as the Inifiniti pack until told otherwise.

It’s just how they roll.

Marketing, licensing, Among other things. There are some things with their partnerships , that prevents them from disclosing things until launch of the DLC. This has been the case for a long, long time now. Just as they’ve said themselves, they’d love to tell us, but legally, they cannot. So they don’t.

Im thinking they are going to start selling cars individually. Selling cars at from .50 to .99 cents a piece.

Part of the reason they can’t come out and tell you what will be in the packs in advance is their level of preparedness- the whole thing’s very liquid.

Recall FM4’s June pack (I think). While John was giving us clues, one car was swapped out for another, to appear in a later pack. That was less than a week before the DLC’s release.

EDIT: I fully agree with SatNite. Any “Surprise” that may have been mentioned is the Infiniti Pack until proven otherwise.

We have been told there would be an Infiniti Promo Pack, and one other DLC but we do not know what that DLC is. for all we know, it could be Hyundai Pack again, they like partnering with T10 to give us free cars.

I think Benji hit the nail on the head though. The packs are kept secret until the week prior because sometimes they aren’t 100% sure what it will be or which cars will get finished on time.

We have not been told we are getting the Infiniti pack “plus” one more.

We know about the Infiniti pack due to the ads on the dashboard.

Brian’s mention of content later in August could be the Infiniti pack or it could be something else. No announcement has said there are definitely two pieces of content. There may be and I am hoping along with everyone else but we have not been told that.

And since he said “some surprises”, “some of that content…” I can see that two pieces of DLC are coming.

Ian too confirmed that the Infiniti pack won’t be the last one…

@ Benjidordoni: Your memory serves you well. The RUF CTR2 was swapped at the last minute. Same thing for the M3 DTM that should have been released in February but It didn’t.

Don’t assume that there’s a pack past the Infiniti one. When they told you whatever ( I wasn’t there for it), they base it on what their Community Team has made available. If you look around the forums, you’ll note that there isn’t an official, T10- started thread involving that pack. So if they say something’s coming, that’s probably what they’re referring to. They aren’t always aware of how their partners advertise.

EDIT: Sightly more on-topic, T10 may not always know exactly what’s coming in each pack, so that may rule out them talking about those in advance, but they’re well aware of the things they’re scanning to add to the game. In theory, it should be possible for them to talk about that ahead of time. For example “We’re working on scanning the 2014 Ford Thundercougarfalconbird, which will be seen in the future of Forza.” An announcement like that doesn’t tie it down to a timeframe or even a game, but lets the fans know what’s in store. One word. Thundercougarfalconbird.

(HQ) Maybe they are thinking of putting in the winning 2013 Red Bull F1 car in the Infinity car pack since these special free manufacture DLC come in three pack. If it doesn’t happen come due date then no one knows about it and nobody rages.
