Dirt accumulation

Do the cars still get dirty at the unrealistic rate of FM5 and 6? If so, I’d like to see an option to simply turn off the dirt effects. It’s a good idea don’t get me wrong, but it should only become apparent if you drive for a long time, not just two or three laps.

Short answer: We don’t know.

Long answer: Without examining currently available footage in minute detail it’s hard to say. Wait for a playable demo to release (most likely in early September) and see for yourself.

…or wait for T10 to release some ACTUAL information about the game.

Or don’t, because hell will probably freeze over first.

Well, my question was more aimed at T10, since I know we don’t have much info to go with ATM.

Turn 10 staff don’t comment on future titles on these forums.

Infact to my recollection not a single Turn 10 staff member has posted in the Forza Motorsport 7 subforum, with the exception of HeliosT10 sharing the Week 2 Car List reveal.

I figured that, but maybe there is still a slim chance someone reads these. This is just something (among other things) that has been bugging me in Forza for a while.

I think they could tone it down a little but slightly off topic but still relevant, I’d love to see dirt, gravel and grass accumulation on the tires when you go off track. It would look especially good on open wheel cars.

I dont see a problem with it. At the end of the day, the graphics devs want to show off what they can do. In real life dirt and clag accumulation obviously doesnt happen over 3-4 laps, that would take away from the talent that those guys and girls have.

For me in game, it makes me feel like I’ve run the car hard over a couple dozen laps. I personally enjoy it the way it is because I feel like a racer.

I just want an option to tone it down or remove it altogether. If the grime actually reflected what you did on the track, like after taking a trip through the gravel or grass, it would be more impressive/accurate.

I’d like it to be toned down for a few reasons. Personally I don’t think it looks good, those weird identical almost translucent PVA glue splodges that appear every couple inches are naff and the fact the tyre build up looks like you’ve been through a 48 hour race. I would be much better if the tyre build up looked like you’d done a GP distance or something and if they used the fantastic mud and dust from the Horizon games for off track excursions.

But the main reason I don’t like the dirt is that as I like to take photos and on places like the Nordschleife and Le Mans, dirt accumulates before half a lap, thus you can’t get normal looking pictures.

Would be nice if they added brake dust, mud/sand and oil to the current tyre build up. Giving the option of choosing the scaling of how quickly you want the car to get dirty. would be much better than the current dirt that looks like its from a 24 hour electric car race on 2011 Pirelli F1 tyres with PVA glue water splashes.

Or take a leaf from Horizon 3’s photography mode and let me clean and repair the car while in photo mode. Maybe split those two features up though. Repair bodywork, leave dirt. Clean dirt, leave dents and scratches, etc. IRL my cars get way dirtier sitting still than they do driving. There are some conniving birds around my apartment that’s all I know. I had the top down on my Fiat 124 Spider for ten minutes in a parking spot and I came back to a lovely bird poop on the front seat.
