Digital Game Freezes (XBOX ONE)

I just purchased the digital copy of Forza Horizon 2 today. Once the install got to a point where it would let me play while it was still installing I loaded it up. I was able to play through the whole trip with the Huracan, and was able to choose my first car. In the process of driving to the Horizon Heats the game froze. At first I thought it was because the game had not installed that part yet. I tried going to this race several more times at various points in the install. It does not matter which road I am on or which direction I am coming from the game always freezes, makes a noise like a disc is skipping (Digital copy with no other disc in the console), and then crashes and goes back to the dashboard as soon as I get between 350 and 400 yards from the event. I have tried the following and still have the issue:

  • Deleting my game save file from the system and cloud
  • Holding the power button for 15 seconds until it is off, taking out the power cable and starting the system and game (with and without having the game save file deleted)
  • Uninstalling all DLC I have already purchased
  • Removing my profile (the only profile) from my XBOX ONE and setting it back up
  • Choosing a new starting car
  • Setting my console to power save mode

The only thing I have not tried is reinstalling the game (which I am trying to avoid since it took 7 hours to fully install). Is there anything else that is recommended before I try to reinstall the game?

Sadly the solution is probably to uninstall and reinstall and not play the game until it is 100% complete.

I really think that Turn 10, PG or MS need to remove that “ready to start” message from either Forza games or all games.

Thanks for the help. I was worried that might be what caused it. The game lets me drive anywhere else in the region that I want for as long as I want but as soon as I get to that distance from the Horizon Heats is when it freezes. I will try reinstalling tonight if I can’t find another fix
