At the moment, all Featured Multiplayer Series in FM have the same max lobby size of 24 players. This is okay for Spec Events, which in this game seem to be more populated than any other series. But why is it that, at least in my own experience, Open Class lobbies are almost never full? It’s because of the limited amount of Classes available each week, which has driven many people away from the game early in its life. Furthermore, some classes are more unbalanced than others, like E, D and C, where the Porsche 550 S and the Mazda MX-5 NA dominate everyone.
While only time travel could change the former, and a fundamental PI change could impact the latter, there is one thing that in my eyes could work wonders on Open Class lobbies - decreasing the maximum player count in a race down to 16, or even 12. This would allow for more accurate Matchmaking, ensuring fair races and more balance between drivers. It most likely wouldn’t impact the server count if the player numbers don’t change, but if others also see this as a positive change with how Matchmaking functions in FM, it could make more people play the game again.
Would definitely be cool if there where different lobby sizes depending on event type. Like 16 player for small events, 24 players for featured and 32 for spec, etc…
