Deadzone for ABS off - Braking

I can’t figure out how to set deceleration deadzones to where if I fully depress LT that it will only go to 78% - 80% braking. That seems to be the maximum sweetspot to avoid locking the brakes. Is it possible? I’ve toyed with the settings for quite sometime and it always goes 100% on full depress locking up the brakes.

100% pull on the trigger is going to be 100% pressure on the brakes no matter what you do, you cannot set “overflow limits” via the triggers.

If you have an Elite Controller, you can use the trigger stop to limit how far the trigger can be pulled, giving you your desired brake pressure. That’s what I do with my Elite and it works well.

If you don’t want to spend a lot on an Elite Controller you can try this third party trigger replacement option. I haven’t used it however so I can’t tell you if it’s of any benefit to your play.

I wonder if top leaderboard players are using the elite controller. You got me thinking of investing in one.

As far as dead zones are concerned, the default settings are appropriate for the majority. That’s probably why Turn 10 hasn’t changed them since Forza 5.

As far as i´ve understood, deadzones only regulate when the game is responding to your input. Like if you set the starting point to 30 it won’t start braking before you pushed the trigger inside 30%. If you reduce the endpoint, all you will achieve is that you don’t have to push the trigger down all the way to rach maximum braking force.

What you want to do is only possible with a elite controller.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I’m going to invest in an elite controller

95% with the triggerlocks seems close to the sweet spot. I fine it does varies abit so brake control still is key.

Upgrade brakes… Adjust your % to the right… lower the pressure.

you can see what it is doing on the left of the screen where it says 60-0 and 100-0. There is a magic number that you can hit that will make your brakes AMAZING.

This is also how almost all of the settings work too. Differential settings for split torque can make your AWD vehicle act completely different and SUPER fast, if you nail that number. Just take your time, and find your generalizations for one or two cars, and you should be a pro at tuning in just a few hours.

The benchmarks are useless. Never uses it for tuning. I wouldn’t go below 100% unless your using ABS. Most od top driver use 160-200%.
Brake bias should be adjusted in tune. Speed down a straight and lock up the brake. Adjust so all four wheels lock at the same time. Pushing the bias towards the rear with help with turn in and trail braking.

An elite controller is a good investment for this game, but you really should practice braking and learn to apply partial input and not just mash the trigger. You can change your deadzones all you like, but you will only achieve the level of control you’re looking for with a steady finger.

Be careful using the trigger lock. I used to have it on and sometimes it will not brake enough when you really need it to. Trying to avoid first corner mayhem or something, it won’t work well. After a few weeks of using the lock I would suggest taking it off. You will find you won’t need it for long once you train yourself never to mash the trigger down but it is a good learning aid.

The feedback through the triggers is very good and when you learn what to feel for you’ll know where the limit of your brakes are.

Set brake pressure to 85 and see what you think to it. Bias affects the car as weight transfers and can be adjusted to suit the way you like to brake and turn in but reducing pressure will help minimise lock ups if you tend to overbrake.

I’ll practice braking with deceleration deadzone inside at 0 and deceleration outside at 100. I’m assuming that those of you that aren’t using trigger stops have vibration turned all the way up to 100 to feel the brakes?

Default vibration setting, weather im using triggerlocks or not

Can’t speak for others, but im using default vibration settings. The Xbox controller is hungry enough as it is. My old Rumblepad 2 lasted at least 5 days, the Xbox controller 2 days maximum, so if you are playing cordless i wouldn’t change vibration settings.

Bought an elite controller and I absolutely love it! I’m able to set my braking threshold exactly where I want it with the trigger lock and the paddles are perfect for manual shifting. Amazing how much this controller enhances this game.

The Elite Controller doesn’t make as big a different as you think, and is largely down to comfort or personal preference. There are likely just as many top players on a regular controller as there are on Elite, with wheels being less popular.

If it helps, here’s what mine is set to:

  • Trigger Stop active.
  • In Forza Motorsport 7: Deceleration Deadzone Outside, 90%.

That gives you roughly 80% in-game brake pressure, though it can vary sometimes. For most cars however it’s just under the lockup range.

Hey. So I am 3 years late to the party… i just got into forza ms7. And am enjoying it. Bought version 2 elite controller to try minimize brake lock up as explained in above posts… however no matter which of 3 settings i use i still lock up. If i view telemetry i get 100% on all three.
How can i set it so it only brakes at 85% or just outside lockup. Thanks in advance
