Throughout the month of June, to celebrate the running of the 24 hours of Le Mans, Deadlight Kustoms will be running several endurance races featuring some classic and vintage race cars. Participation cars will be awarded to those that complete the races, courtesy of Hotlap designs.
The races will be run on the Saturdays of June, except the 13th, when the actual race is running. There will be 8 hours of racing each day broke into 3 races. First race in the morning will feature cars from the 50’s running 2hours at tight twisty tracks to emulate the Mille Miglia. Next up will be a 2hour endurance classic featuring cars from the eighties, dodging Forza A.I. running the Group C racers, around race tracks famous for national endurance events. Finally back in the 50’s racers for a 4hour vintage endurance around the most famous of endurance race tracks.
The Mille Miglia and Vintage Endurance will be a B500 spec series using Chevy88 tuned '55 Mercedes 300SLR’s, '56 Jaguar Dtype’s, '57 Ferrari 250 Testarossa’s, '57 Maserati 300S’s and '58 Aston Martin DBR1’s. The tunes will be available on the storefront of koiftt. A.I. will be used to complete a field of 16 cars, comprised of Lotus Elevens and Porsche 550’s set to hard and professional level. Damage will be set to limited for the MM events due to the lack of pits at Fuji and Positano. Damage will be set to simulation for the 4 hour Vintage races.
The Endurance Classic will be a restrictive tune event. Only cars from 1980 through 1993 will be allowed. The McLaren F1 will not be allowed. Tunes must have a P.I. of 700 to 740. Engine swap and drivetrain swap will only be permitted if necessary to meet the P.I. requirements. It is encouraged that tunes be shared on the storefront. A.I. will be used to complete a field of 16 cars, comprised of Porsche 962’s, Peugeot 905’s, Mazda 787’s and Sauber C9’s, set to hard and professional level. Damage will be set to simulation.

Many thanks to Renegade Warrior. His testing has proved that the key to victory is to take as little damage as possible. In a simulation damage race it is not possible to right your car without help from another racer. Lag out is a very real possibility in online races.
With a top speed if over 180mph the big Merc is favourite at the high speed tracks. It’s weight is noticeable around the curves and in braking, however, making pushing it’s limits a difficult and risky proposition.
1956 Jaguar D-type
The Jaguars impressive aerodynamics gives it the next best top speed of 178mph. Equally good handling gives it the best chance to overhaul the Benz.
1957 Ferrari 250 Testarossa
With the sharpest handling of the five cars, the fiery redhead makes up for the poorest top speed of 167mph, and catches the faster vehicles in the curves.
1957 Maserati 300S
The little 300 flicks and slides to some of the most impressive lap times. Top speed of 175mph is also strong, but the knife edge handling maybe require to much concentration for the long races.
1958 Aston Martin DBR1
Despite being down on lap times, the silky smooth DBR1 handles like a dream. With its good speed of 174mph, the effortless Aston just might make for the best endurance racers as the riskier choices fall by the wayside.
Strategy
With simulation damage, keeping the car in good shape is a must for victory at the high speed tracks. Pitting in for repairs will cost time and aerodynamics will not get fixed. The cars above will lose up to 35 mph with full aero damage, meaning a clean Ferrari becomes much faster than a smashed up Merc. Tires will also depreciate and losing time in the pits to change them may be rewarded with faster lap times later in the races. Extra fuel will not be needed, but your mechanics will top you up every time you pit, costing you time.
At Fuji and Positano there are no pits so damage received cannot be fixed. Extra care will need to be taken rounding curves, overtaking cars, changing gears.
Participation cars for those who finish the races.

Well I lost connection 1H 7m into race I had a firm grasp on 6th place. The only cars I was leading were the AI… Oh well I will get my car ready for next session…
wise words, and watch out for those crazy mad AI drivers in their R1s!
and many THANKS to you koiftt for hosting today! and chevy the really nice “vintage” tunes.
Sorry that I could not stick around ofr the big 4 hour final today, but… well, 4+ hours was probably enough (Xbox decided to crash when I tried to come back after the 2nd race for the 3rd and, well… I decided I had best do a few other things today!)
great racing with you guys! - hope to be around for the next BIG event!
Thanks to everyone who showed for the first day, i had a blast seeing how long the races were competitive. I’ll have a full report up soon and really looking forward to the next races in two weeks time.
another EPIC - Once again, I only raced in the first two 2 hour Enduros, missed the start for the final 4 hour (had to eat!) – I did pop in to see how that was going and IRONMAN koiftt was still at it! Amazing to me that Steven had NO DAMAGE (!!!) with “only” 1 & 1/2 hours to go.
Thanks again koiftt!
(I do hope I can make it next week also! …so long as some travel plans of mine don’t get in the way)
Glad you’re having fun Leek!
Practice today has been changed to an earlier 5:00pm central start.
Updated participation car post with this Saturdays prize cars.
I won’t make the races Koiftt but have fun with them.
I nearly tagged a couple of your cars in the AH earlier but knew I wouldn’t be about when they were finishing & didn’t want to inadvertently stop someone getting in on the action if by some random twist I won one.
Thanks for commenting on the new paints - have you been working on anything new?
Thanks DM. No new paints, think i’m going to work on getting 300 cars in HorizOne and HorizTwo for 10 million more Forza 6 rewards credits. Maybe then paint in 5 if it’s been confirmed vinyls can be transferred to 6. I have a two day gold code that i might start another account, so i can leave my fantasy paints in the 4za storefront. Couple paints i’d like to do here, but no motivation at the mo for painting.
