Controller firmware update is Amazing!!!

I’m a huge Forza fan, played every installment. I’m a decent driver…nothing great, but decent.

When I got Forza 5, I played it and spun out, A LOT. I don’t use any assists…but Forza 5 felt especially twitchy to me.

I just installed the update for the controller (its in Xbox settings/system/update controller) and now this game feels a lot more like the previous games.

Not twitchy at all! I can finally play Forza and not worry about driving like a maniac!

If you’ve had the same issues, i’ve had, I suggest you install the controller firmware update.

Btw, you will need a USB cable. I just used the one that came with the PS4 for charging the DS4 controller :).

I believe that the controller update was just for the headset adapter and the analog update came with the February update.

DAh Dah dah dah…waaaaaaa (failer music from price is right) I failed.

LOL….thats how you know I have not been playing this game. Before tonight, I didn’t play it in about a month.

Well, now I’ll play it. It feels so much better to me.

Actually the controller update was something that the makers of Titanfall demanded from Microsoft.
They said that the controller wasn’t precise enough.

The controller update actually released a couple of weeks ago. Is that the one you are talking about? Or the one that came yesterday where you have to plug in your Xbox One controller to the Xbox to do.

The one from a few weeks ago fixed the twitches in the sticks, which weren’t extremely noticeable, but did do a little something for every game. I have mainly noticed it on Battlefield, but Forza does seem a bit smoother. Could be a placebo effect though.

The one that came yesterday that you have to do manually is just for the new headsets releasing.

Feels the same to me

I use to think the update came in Feb but now when I think of if it makes more sense if firmware was added to controller directly rather than console itself. Yes this update suppose to allow headphones to be use but that doesn’t mean the controller wasn’t updated too. Too bad we can’t get a good conformation on this since neither update specify when the twitchiness was added to controller.

There is an update for the controller that needs to be done manually??? First I have heard of this. Does anybody have a link to this information? For the update that helps with twitches and the last manual one?

Here is the link for the Xbox One controller update in February:
http://www.joystiq.com/2014/02/13/xbox-one-february-update-adjusts-controller-precision/

These are the other things listed in that update (controller one was most likely under “Significant performance and stability improvements.”

Here is the list of March update info:

And finally the info for the firmware update.

"New Devices – Driver and Firmware updates

Firmware update to the Xbox One controller to support the Xbox One stereo headset adapter
Support for 1st and 3rd party headsets
Driver updates for the Xbox One Media Remote"

Thanks you sir!

So the manual update is ONLY for allowing the adaptor for stereo headsets to work.

Its called the placebo effect!

Was about to post the exact same comment

So did they not change the sensitivity for titanfall then? The original story was titanfall asked them to change it and forza would benifit.

Yes, it was changed. It just won’t be extremely noticeable. It wasn’t a huge change, just a small fix for the analog sticks is all that most people probably won’t even notice, but it will help out with all games.

I can’t get it I need a mini USB plug that’s compatible with Xbox one but isn’t from Microsoft from what I heard theirs breaks quicker. Also would they have it in bestbuy?

whew. i haven’t played for a few days and tuned my cars to take the twitch out. was afraid an update taking more twitch out would have made all my tunes too unresponsive.
