I noticed a bug today that I am able to replicate repeatedly and consistently which causes my car that is equipped with winter tires to be replaced with dirt tires (which aren’t available during the winter season), until I return to my house and go back to upgrading my car and open up the tires menu which will then immediately correct the tires back to winter tires.
The bug can be replicated as follows, and should only be possible during the winter season:
- Have your car driving in freeroam with winter tires (must be during winter season)
- Join a race that is in a different season with that same car (need to pick a custom event or create a blueprint in which the selected season is either spring, summer or autumn)
- Upon the race loading to a custom event that is in another season than winter, the car’s winter tires will be replaced with dirt tires automatically.
- Complete or quit the race, doesn’t really matter which.
- Upon returning to freeroam (during winter season), your car will remain equipped with the dirt tires instead of the winter tires (look closely at tire patterns / adjust camera angle, you’ll see they are clearly dirt tires and lack the winter pattern with tire studs)
- This issue will persist until you return to any of your houses, go to “upgrade car” and open up the tires menu. You don’t even have to pick the winter tires, as soon as the tires menu is open the problem will correct itself immediately. Dirt tires aren’t even available as an option during winter anyway, so you won’t even see dirt tires as a selectable upgrade.
- You can then leave your house and if you look closely at the tires on your car they will be proper winter pattern with tire studs.
The behavior I would expect from the game is that when I leave an event that is in a different season than winter, that my winter tires be restored back on my car instead of it getting stuck with dirt tires until I visit my house → car upgrades → tires, all while it’s not even possible to normally equip dirt tires during the winter season.
