Computer Requirements for FH3 on Windows 10

i feel like 8gb ram isnt going to cut it if your using a HDD with such a large environment while trying to do any kind of high res. the 2gb of vram my 7870 has is probably pushing it too… that said apex runs fine ~90fps at my settings

You’re joking right? lol

GTX 1080
intel 6700K @ 4.0 GHZ
4 TB HDD
500 GB SSD
32 GB RAM

Apex runs fine except big frame drops as long as v-sync is on, really hope i can run this game fine and that they also optimise it

Fire: Not sure why you would get frame rate drops with that hardware. I have a 980ti and run everything maxed (including aa) at 4k DSR and have no real dips below 60fps ever. That could be caused by the power management setting in your Nvidia global settings. Make sure it’s set to “maximum performance” and then reboot. “Adaptive” works for me as well but there’s another setting that was added in the recent drivers that makes Apex stutter and have a weird frame rate at times. When you update drivers it defaults to the bad one.

Oh my god dude i just tried it and it fixed the issue no more drops with v-sync on you’re a hero thanks a bunch

Hello
i have a GTX 970 4gb gaming edition
8gb ram
a i54460 3.20ghz
1tb hdd
triple 1080p monitors
i can run gta 5 max (not 4k) on triple screens with about 40 fps in busy city parts
and i can run black ops 3 on max at 60 fps on 1 screen
will i be able to run forza horizon 3 on 1 screen decent fps you think?

am i right in saying you dont need xbox one to play this on pc?

Yes you are, like you. I only have a pc.

The recommended specs are just released and they are exactly the same as forza motorsport 6 apex. They didn’t say anything about the minimum specs, but i guess they will be the same as apex.

So if you can run apex on your system, you can most likely also run Forza Horizon 3.

Specs for apex here

With my system: fx 8350-gtx 660 - 16gb ram
If i put everything on the lowest setting in apex, i get 100 fps+ on 1080p. If i put the settings on dynamic, i get 30 fps locked. So i think i have some headroom if Horizon 3 is heavier than apex.

Just saw it, not really suprised. Anyways, I’ll add the recommended system requirements and we’re yet to see the minimal requirements. The minimal requirements are probably the same as Apex as you said, yes.

It’s nice to finally see some info on PC version, yay!
In Apex these stand for 1080p 60 fps, same as xbox one. But considering that Horizon runs 30 fps on X1, does that mean that these recommended are for 1080p 30 fps?
I really love that Apex requirements mention resolution and fps in them. “Recommended” alone doesn’t really mean anything as some people might say 25 fps is playable, while other few won’t stand anything below 144.

I would suppose the recommended requirements are for 60 FPS, because I don’t know any game developer that recommend that you play in 30 FPS. On the other hand, as you said, Forza Horizon 3 is running at 30 FPS on Xbox One because it’s a bigger game than Motorsport but if they optimize it well enough we’ll hopefully be able to run the game at the same settings as Apex with the same framerate. I mean a GTX 1060 is already a very outrageous GPU to have as a recommended one.

Hello, I saw the recomended specs for Forza Horizon 3 on PC and that got me thinking: in FM6 Apex, I have stutters when racing at Yas Marina at night at minimum settings (1080p 80FPS, no V-Sync) whereas at medium settings on Rio (Full Track and day time) or at Brands Hatch Indy (Rain) I have no stutters at all (1080p 55-60FPS, no V-Sync). Will it be the same on FH3 at night (or anytime) and can I somehow reduce it ?

My PC specs: GTX 960 2GB, 8GB of RAM, i5-4460. And BTW, how can I be sure that my Windows 10 version already upgraded to the Anniversary Update ?

Go to Start and search for “winver” (without the quotes). Click on winver when it shows up. A box should appear and in the smaller text it should say Version 1607 (OS Build something or other) if you have the Anniversary update. If the version number is something else then you don’t have it.

Thanks  Unfortunately, mine’s 1511 so, I have to update it

EDIT: Updated it, my body is ready for FH3, not sure about my PC though.

“Forza Horizon 3 players will have a tremendous amount of adjustment options when playing on Windows 10. From basic options like full screen, vertical sync, and resolution, to more advanced adjustments like quality settings for motion blur, mirrors, reflection, static and dynamic geometry, we’re giving Windows 10 players the power to play the way they want. Whether playing on the recommended specs or pushing the hardware limits to deliver the ultimate 4K racing experience, Forza Horizon 3 players will have lots of options for making the most of their experience.”

hi i i want to play forza horizon 3 but im not sure if my pc can handle it… if i have to update my system at high cost ,maybe i should buy an x-box one refurbished istead…ok my pc setup is:

cpu AMD FX 4300 Quad Core 3.80GHz
gpu Saphire Radeon R7 260X
ram 8GB

i think to play this game with recommended setup(1080p 60fps) i will need fo rure different cpu and gpu…this will cost me around 500$ while a new xbox 200$ Right?

If you’re expecting to play Forza at 4K with a 1070, It will look like a high res Forza Motorsport 2 for anything over 30fps. I have a 1080, Apex barely keeps its head above 60fps at 1080P, and thats with settings bumped down from ultra.

I’m surprised to read this. I’ve been playing Apex maxed out at 4K (including MSAA at 8x) on a 1070 and getting 80-110 fps. That’s with the dynamic scaling feature switched off, so it’s not reducing anything to maintain performance. I was very surprised to see that performance, but I’m certainly not complaining! It looks amazing. I’m expecting Horizon 3 to be more demanding, but I’m hoping to be able to play at 4K even if I need to bump a few settings down compared with Apex.

Performance reviews show that even a 970 or AMD 390 can cope with Apex very well at 1440p, so for a 1080 to struggle at 1080p with settings bumped down sounds odd.

i don’t get why they compare the GTX 1060 to a GTX 970. The 1060 performce like a 980 when both are at stock speeds. I recently got a i5 6600k and a gtx 1060 G1. Apex runs like a dream at 1080p max settings with 4xMSAA. The game never dips below 90 on a full track. Most of the time it’s sitting in the 100s
