Complete overhaul of Street Racing Scene

NFSU idea of street racing simply doesn’t fit with overall feel Forza Horizon went with, where everything is supposedly legal, clean and safe. With same track style as Road Racing, just darker and with random traffic getting rammed, it just becomes Road Racing’s poor unloved cousin. It even makes less sense that Horizon Festival has official outpost for it, when races are still supposedly hidden from Horizon Festival organizers.

My idea is to bring Street Racing closer to road racing gameplay-wise, but make it more distinct visually to make it look like its own thing: flash races organized by drivers and fans, rather than Horizon Crew.

  1. Normal day/night rotation for races, with random chance for race to take place in night, unlike other Race types where night racing is exclusive to Playlist events, and random races are only in daytime.
  2. Junctions with other roads blocked by cars, and square corners with straw bales with flag showing direction of turn. Individual bales are movable and careless players can still plow through them and fall out of track.
  3. Spectators standing on top of cars, large (unmovable) piles of bales, and elevated objects (like large rocks or buildings), taking pictures and flying drones
  4. No random traffic during race. It’s basically RNG element to it, and traffic thick enough to make it legit skill-related component would make race almost impossible for less skilled players.
  5. Unlock individual events as player progresses through levels, via ingame mail or call, to enhance feel of it as something not related directly to Horizon Festival.

Some changes could be implemented right away (like tracks decorations), though obviously not all. FH6, maybe?

That’s a good point! It was illegal in Forza Horizon 3, they even mention that.

Perhaps it would be good to overhaul the Street Scene Festival to a parking lot with a big car meet. Perhaps add a petrol station (and maybe some charging stations for EV’s??) that acts as our garage.

It would be more convincing that the street races are illegal. It indeed makes no sense that the Horizon Festival hosts races on unclosed roads while the rest of the event is supposedly legal.

A bit like this then:
