Community Seasonal Events Selection

I’m curious what the selection process is for the seasonal community championships? I understand it’s only my opinion, but so far all the community events have been just awful. The developer events have been pretty decent but the community generated events, for the most part, are just plain bad. The checkpoint placement is awful and they simply aren’t any fun.

I feel that after these events, voting should be mandatory. After the race all players who completed it should pick between like/dislike with no option to cancel or abstain so the developers can get an accurate gauge of what the community actually feels. Players doing the events is not a good metric as they don’t really have a choice.

Perhaps, these events should be made available on the maps the week in advanced with forced voting after completion. Events that don’t generate a certain amount of likes then won’t be selected for the seasonal series.

these routes are available long before they get featured - you just have to search them out, or be active in the discord - #route-creators.

the original blueprints for Raverbunny’s rollercoaster were some of my favorite CC routes of all time. It just happens that it was designed for A class buggies, not S1 offroad monsters.

the airfield route was designed for D class offroad, and believe it or not, at high end of D was actually slippy and fun.

You see with this in mind they make more sense but as they were this week Turn10 wrecked them by up’ing the PI index for the car group required.

The checkpoints are a joke and the races not fun to play, especially if the wrong car class is going to be a requirement.

If I wanted to play these events (which I don’t) I would search them out via the blueprint events I thought that’s what it was for ?

Instead of having these style events shoved down my throat.

I was thinking if these were originally planned for lower division vehicles. I think for current series airfield route suffered the most for upping it to S1. I think the best compromise might have been A class for this championship.

Really liked the Bear Hunt myself though.

Thanks for info!

I certainly don’t mean to demean anyone’s work, but I agree, the Community Championships have been… less than ideal the last few seasons.

First off, when I saw the events were “Cross Country” that was an immediate turn off; then, S1 Extreme Off-road? Darn-it! However, I wanted the Wrangler. But as I was racing the events, I couldn’t help but get the feeling that the designer of the tracks was laughing through the entire design of it. “Oh, Wait! I’ll put a two-foot check point right here… that will be hilarious!”

I really don’t mind “grinding” in the game. I run Goliath and Colossus over and over all the time. But this championship made me feel like some sort of “showdog”; jump through this hoop, now turn around and jump over that bar, now crawl under that table…

Not fun…

If you want the original routes, I posted them here, with my recommendations based on my trial:

Overall, these as a B class, I think would have worked the best in a set.

Bear Hunting I think is most controversial in original route as it is a thematic event vs pure race with narrow and guiding checkpoints, but the creator focus was an experience to be like chasing something through the woods.

These thematic/challenge ones do have a smaller group and will appeal to fewer people, but when done in original state, it is more apparent what the creator was doing and far more enjoyable too.
