Yes, I’ve worked with xbox to resolve it. Since it’s recurring yet intermittent it’s nigh impossible to tell whether the issue is fixed for just not happening at the moment. I will try another gamertag and see if I encounter the issue. Changing gamertags will not result in much meaningful data though. All it will show is that there is some unknown confluence of events that may or may not occur on multiple gamertags. Since I myself do not have developer tools to parse out what is different the best possible result in this test-case scenario is “this issue doesn’t occur on my other GT… yet,” and the worst possible scenario is “it occurs on all my gamertags.” I do appreciate you taking an earnest interest in solving it though. Thank you.
Geeze T10,look at the number of pages this thread has,a couple of car packs are not going to make these guys happy! But like Worm said this news was predetermined.
I’ll ask in this thread as I did in post #2 of the announcement. If there are fixes with this car pack release, will they be documented this time? And my other question is if T10 will consider announcing their slightly longer term plan for addressing issues and hopefully, additions to the content?
Hi Worm, sorry if I missed it, but did he say he would look into being able to announce their long term plan for FM5? There are so many threads and responses, I apologize in advance if this was missed. Presenting a list of things they are working on or at least considering would go such a long way with the community.
Helios, it is from that thread for the robot voices and what Claret is talking about also happens. The people you can’t hear you won’t see in the race within a few races either. Their car just won’t be there, it’s been like that since release.
T REX, what I said was that it was probably already ready before this thread existed. It’s not some big secret that things are planned ahead of time. No insight into anything there, the guy I replied to was assuming it was related to this thread.
Worm,i knew what you meant, the car packs where going to come anyways, the free to carpass owners may have been added last second to calm things down, who knows.
Think for a minute, please. People have claimed ALL the cars are already on the discs/within the game. Yet pretty good-sized packs come down (at least) once a month which are much larger than just 10 cars.
All packs and the accompanying game changes are delivered to everyone because the free car is sent out regardless of the “pack” ownership, which already part of the delivery system.
Everyone automatically receives at least the free car and ? ? ? Updates, revisions and unannounced nuances for the game. Make sense? First one will be in a week.
From what’s been said along with the way voice chat works on Xbox One I’d wager it is a platform problem rather than a game specific issue. It will be interesting to see if these problems persist when the June Xbox One platform update is released.
I don’t think it is a platform problem. If it was, more people with a bigger voice/reach would know about it (Larry Hyrb as one example). I haven’t heard so much as a peep on any social media channels relating to this issue in specific. Robot/transformer voices and/or no voice at all has not been addressed very thoroughly by anybody that can do anything about it. If it was a platform problem, either these people choose to act oblivious or they choose to not do anything, of which both options are ridiculous given the simple fact that it is their job to know these types of things. This leads me to believe it isn’t a platform issue, because I have a decent amount of faith that most of these people do their job to the best of their ability. I would fully expect to hear something through the various social sites if anybody of such stature frequently ran into these problems, but I don’t.
As others have said before me, even if it is a platform issue, and it very well could be as I have no idea how to do anything but play the games, there should be a bigger push for a fix from your end because these issues that aren’t even your own fault are affecting your game and how others perceive it to be. That would raise some flags in my camp.
I agree with Vin here. Its not entirely clear who has ownership of what when it comes to multiplayer issues. XBOX Live on the XBOX One has not been with out its own set of issues, and its entirely possible a good portion of the issues we are reporting are their responsibility. Here is one thread where I have tried to draw their attention to Forza 5 issues.
The best resource we have is to compare to other games and from my experience, Forza 5 has been a poor performer. The two other online games I play are Titanfall and Battlefield 4. Titanfall could probably be defined as the model citizen from my experience. It had a few hiccups but for the most part, it all just works without me having to think about it or jump through a bunch of hoops.
Battlefield 4 was a complete mess when it launched, but now? Its actually a pretty nice experience. No more rubber banding. Voice communication works well. Joining games with friends is quick and mostly intuitive. When comparing Battlefield 4 to Forza 5, to me its how Dice approached it’s issues compared to how T10 has approached Forza 5 issues. Dice announced they would stop working on DLC until they got broken features of the game fixed and functioning as intended. T10? See this weeks “Week in Review”.
Point being, I think T10 has some ownership of the online portion of their game. I don’t think they can (nor should) completely pass the puck to XBOX Live.
But, if the online issues are owned by XBOX Live, shouldn’t T10 act as an ambassador to help us get them resolved?
This may be the case however, it is negatively affecting your entire user base more than any other we currently know of. T10 should be as invested in fixing it as we are, demanding answers from XBOX. If we as a community have an easier time enjoying our virtual friends online in titanfall ( as one example) over forza because we can actually interact in that other game more reliably, eventually Forza will stop being the place we hang. Whatever part of this game you enjoy, you enjoy it more because you do it with friends and live people. Sever that connection, or make it so intermittent that it might as well be severed and the users will move on.
Also please understand how difficult it is as an end-user to address this issue. The things xbox support asks you to do removes you from multiplayer and even the game itself. Just because you restart the game and enter a new lobby and the chat works for a race or 2 does not mean the issue is fixed. So you hang up and 2 races later it’s back. This issue is happening to too many people and needs to be fixed by the applications, not the end-users.
edit: I think it is a very important research point to note that the process of going from a lobby into a race, and from a race back into a lobby changes who you can hear and who you cannot. Often I can hear only 1 person in a race. When I click that final continue and go to the loading screen for the return to the lobby all of sudden I can hear some of the users. Further this list of users I can hear can change after each race in the same lobby.
After a very quick google search, it shows this issue is also happening in COD Ghosts
And titanfall
It goes on and on, can find one for every multiplayer game that uses in-game chat via xbox live if you look in the right places. This isn’t just an issue with a particular game, this is an issue on xbox live itself. It seems to be hit and miss which game this happens in for people, for some its forza, others it is COD Ghosts, others it is Titanfall, and so on. Till Xbox support find the issue and fix it, there isn’t really a lot that a game dev can do to resolve it.
Respectfully, I disagree. There are things a developer can do but they need to do them in conjuction with the XBOX team. I did not encounter this issue in titanfall or CoD but other people are so the problem does occur elsewhere. But it occurs 100% percent of the time for me in Forza. Sadly that is not an exagerration. There simply is no time when I can hear all of the people in the lobby during a race or in the lobby.
Back to what could be salient details regarding the issue. My ability to speak to my twitch viewers is never compromised regardless of whether game chat is currently partially working or broken. So it’s not my controller or my headset. I do not know the code but I assume since there is no way to distinguish who I’m speaking to (all voice goes to all channels) that twitch communication is also in-game chat. And twitch is never broken.
Second, sometimes when I start my xbox, and join a party before starting Forza I cannot hear or talk to anyone. The green light that shows in party chat when you’re broadcasting doesn’t light up at all. However once I start forza and it’s initialized itself and gotten me to the main menu it seems to relinquish control of the voice chat and party chat starts working again on its own. No amount of turning on or off the controller, the headset or party chat resolves this issue. The only way to fix it is to start Forza and allow it to let go. This is the despite the fact that I always back out to the “Press A to start” screen and quit the application before shutting down my xbox. Obviously something Forza is doing is grabbing the connection to chat and not letting go even when there is no instance of it running on my xbox. Perhaps this may be part of the issue.
I’m not hardcore either, I just ordered the LCE version the day it went up for sale, queued at midnight on day one to get a box to play it on and it’s the only game I own. 100% casual me lol
it dosn’t matter why or who broke it, all that matters is that its broke. here they blame it on microsoft, call microsoft and they tell you to try the fixes we in the community have found and if those dont work tell you to come to these forums, that its turn ten. i cant be the only one who has read those threads. and the bugs seem to be getting worse not better. chat problems seem much more common lately. losing game saves has become more common recently. its as if the updates and dlc are breaking some of the stuff that did work at launch. they need to stop all new content releases until the bugs are fixed and then test the heck out of any dlc and patches before release to make sure its not going to break something again.
and turn ten just blaming live is absolutely the wrong pr move. whether true or not it is telling the customers “we couldn’t fix it even if we knew how and wanted to” its telling the customers fm6 can be no better than fm5 when it comes to bugs and glitches. its telling all those dissatisfied with fm5 not to waste money on fm6. the correct answer is to tell people you are going to look into it and try to fix it implying that it is possible to get better, even if you have to go to the live team and work with them to fix it. turn ten talks about all the partners they had to make fm5, if you can work with other companies and achieve results make Microsoft the main company you work the most with.
if you bought a car and it wouldn’t run and the company you bought the car from told you its not their fault, the company they buy their engines from cant build engines right to call the engine company, and the engine company to you to call the car company, and the car company explains they are owned by the engine company is it going to matter to you? are you going to buy another car from them knowing it wont run either, but accept its not their fault? you are going to switch car companies. you dont just need any car, you need a car that works, any car that works.
and if later that engine that wouldn’t run runs just fine in another car…turn ten better hope project cars sucks on the xbox. well not really. because its not like ms are going to let them make playstation games. if the xbox dies because it wont work turn ten dies with it. turn ten better volunteer to fix it for microsoft even if they are totally innocent. sure they might have to do alot of extra work and maybe even for the same money, but atleast they’ll be working. with all the developer layoffs and studio closures getting another job in the industry is not garenteed. and i’m betting makeing forza pays a little better than asking me if i want fries with that.
if you like your job but have an owner that cant do his job you better find a way to do the owners job for them. the owners not going to be the only one who loses anything if the company closes. and thats not even the case here. many shareholders want microsoft to shut down xbox. ms will not go to the wall for xbox, they wont lose alot of money on it again. they will shut it down if it become non profitable. ms have already let balmer and matric go. if turn ten thinks their jobs are safe…ms owns turn ten. stuff rolls down hill from what i hear. the people at ms will be pointing the fingers at someone else, someone down hill. alot of changes are being made at xbox right down to debundling the kinnect. priorities are being redrawn. turn ten dont want to be one of the changes made.
turn ten needs to find a way to get it fixed because they will pay the price for it not being fixed even if its not their fault. you are never going to buy forza on anything but an xbox. so if xbox folds you wont be buying forza period. no forza no need for turn ten.
You think perhaps Turn 10 is using their lines of communications to get the issues fixed?
Xbox LIVE has chat issues, which I’ve previously talked about. Xbox LIVE beta processes are testing fixes, since they own the process and it is a “hook” which the game companies use to flag the actions. Why do you think there are so many issues of various mics and headsets not working correctly (not just in FM5) but across all games?
It is because the voice/messaging system on LIVE isn’t completed and has issues. That is why.
Guys guys guys… This thread is only a few days old don’t expect massive changes overnight. Sure more dlc isn’t what most of us wanted to hear but as worm said that move was most likely planned long before this thread. The point of this thread was to get t10s attention and address many of the issues keeping many of the forza faithful from enjoying the game as they would like. This thread has succeeded in that. Now it’s time for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Helios is presumably at least trying to fully understand what the problems are so he can have them addressed. I get that you’re upset that the game is broken, I am too. But with so many comments since Helios has started posting being seemingly ungrateful for the help that he hopefully is trying to give is counter productive. We have made our point, now it’s time to help t10 and Helios fully understand the problems so we can be a part of the solution instead of acting like a bunch of spoiled brats, like nothing will ever be good enough. We have done a lot of good things with this thread, let’s not undo all of that with a rash of counter productive comments.
We won’t get everything we want, it’s just not feasible. But if we go about this the right way we just might get a playable game that is at least somewhat enjoyable while waiting to see if the rest of our issues can be resolved for fm6. Unfortunately this far into the game that is about the best we can hope for.
