Community Interaction - A message for Turn 10

Day after day, I visit this site in the vain hope that one day, someone from Turn 10 will have offered us a crumb of information as to what in the world is happening with our game. Every day, I leave ever more disappointed and disenchanted. What we wouldn’t give for a little bit of transparency.

In the last week, I posted a thread about Patch notes. Today, a thread has been posted about online lobbies. There are numerous threads about paint glitches, save game errors, connectivity issues, gameplay bugs. The list really is endless. In every thread, T10 conspicuous in their absence yet again. What happened to the days of Che Chou, community manager? In pitpass reports and on the forums, we were given information on our game, what was happening, what was coming, assurances that our voices were actually being heard and listened to. Who is in this role now? Where are they? If there isn’t somebody doing this then you really have “dropped a bollock”.

All we want is some news. Some inkling that things are being seen and that our purchase isn’t a short term one. At the minute, I and countless others feel like we have given our money only to be given a huge metaphorical middle finger in return. You are slowly losing this community. Everyone is looking for alternatives. With Projects Cars, Drive Club and Grid on the horizon, you can’t afford to be complacent.

It’s not like we are asking for the world.

In the miraculous instance that someone from Turn 10 sees this whilst frequenting forums for more important than their own official ones, I ask, on behalf of the community what is happening with:

  • Online Lobbies: Distance meters, voice bugs, invisibility bugs and lag issues, infinite customisation options missing?
  • Functionality: Gifting, Storefronts, Car Clubs, Save game issues, Game restart issues, Replay limitations?
  • Painting: Copious paint glitches?
  • Turn 10: Who is your community manager? Do you plan on releasing content relating to game updates (patch notes or dev diary)? Why do you not converse with your community if you care about them so much? Why is the emphasis put on DLC when the game is in an unfinished state? Do you actually intend on supporting Forza 5 from here on?

(I’m sure I’ve missed things, I’m tired, feel free to reply and I’ll edit the OP as and when)

Mods, I’m not sure if I have infringed any rules in the posting of this. If I have, I apologise but things have really come to a head for me after nigh on 10 years sticking with this franchise through thick and thin.

We receive no less information nowadays than that in the years of Che. In fact, we have more contributions from the Community Team than ever before. If you think otherwise, that’s nostalgia interjecting into your memory.

I think that’s besides the point. For a developer that loves it’s fans we are left in the dark about the game we play. We are only notified when there is a new car/s and tracks. Not anything about fixing what is broken in the game.

You are grossly overestimating the value of the very short lived Pit Pass report segment.

Furthermore, you are not the community spokesperson, so please do not claim to make any remarks “on behalf of the community”.

I hereby authorize this thread’s author to make the originally-posted inquiries on my behalf.

Is that good enough?

This is why we can’t have nice things - because when we ask (even beg), our own “community” cannibalizes itself.

Do you believe that you are actually doing this community or the future of this series a service by smugly attempting to shame & silence those who simply seek basic resolutions for significant widespread concerns?

Who actually prefers less information & interaction from the game’s creators?

Who actually prefers more defects, bugs, glitches, & other issues?

Who actually believes that this series & its customer community would be better off without a more responsive & interactive development team?

Who would actually prefer that none of the original-poster’s inquiries ever get addressed by the game’s creators?

My sentiments exactly. Well said

I’ll assume this was aimed at me despite the quote fail. It wasn’t just the pitpass and it wasn’t really short lived. It went on for a decent amount of time. If you read the whole post there is more to it than that. I might not speak on behalf of you but as speak as a guy who has watched Forza slowly devolve in terms of what it offers at the time of it’s release, game after game. I speak for the people on the forums that ARE dissatisfied. For the people I talk with and see everyday. You may be satisfied but I can assure you the majority are not.

There are plenty of threads. Pick one.

Defenders gon defend…

You only have to look at the number of people liking my posts and the number of people liking yours to see a trend forming.

Oooh… A like war. I love getting likes.

Not really a majority, especially given the Forums only include less than half the active population on the game.

How do you know? You have no idea how many people visit the forums or what percent of the population views them. Stop making imaginary numbers to sound important.

It’s not that hard to figure out honestly, Forums never generate the numbers that actually play the game. That’s the logical aspect of this.

Secondly, I believe it was Snowowl who produced the numbers a while back showing Forza game populations vs Forum population, and the forum population is drastically less. So no, I’m not making any numbers up at all.

I don’t believe so, must have been someone else.

If I recall correctly, there was some discussion regarding people not being active in FM5 who played FM4 in a pretty steady fashion (and still do). The “fact” that FM5 doesn’t have as many players immediately moving to FM5 from FM4 as was the case from to FM4 from FM3 was used to “prove” FM5 isn’t as popular or boost someone’s opinions regarding Turn 10 and the new game.

The cited information of FM3-to-FM4 was on the same Xbox 360 platform. Buying a single game is much more appealing monetarily after two years with the previous version than buying the a game AND a whole new console. Economically changing to Xbox One, with the expenses involved, is more of a determining factor than the game itself or any incrimination of Turn 10 as was the attempt to prove a “point.”

The same “split” happened when the Xbox 360 was created and hit the market, replacing the original Xbox, leaving “haves” and “have-not’s” between the two platforms, but it is monetary, not caused by any new versions of the games on the new console. We still have people who don’t understand the difference between platforms asking for FM4 on the Xbox One, and Turn 10 to issue FM5 for the Xbox 360 or PCs. As I said, if I’m recalling correctly, even PS had the lag time between the original and PS2, and GT versions. People just don’t (or can’t) immediately jump onto a new console on launch day to adopt a newer version of a game.

Another reason for membership numbers on this forum is the growing popularity of other Forza-specific forums, even Facebook now, in different languages. This forum is in English. It is easier for a French player to go to the French language forums (even though they’re not hosted by Turn 10) using their native language, than come here trying to translate/communicate in a foreign language. I don’t speak, read or write French, so I’m not a member over there, but that should not be taken as a lack of interest or incrimination Forza Motorsport 5, should it?

You’re right … you are internet famous! Your onesy, twosy thumbs-up out of over one million who bought the game is quite a feat. At this rate, mathematical inference still won’t prove your claim.

It was good chatting with you.

Again, proportion. How many of those millions visit the site? How many of those millions turn the game on more than once? Like I said, it shows a trend emerging from those that do visit the forum. A trend.

I was going to join this debate but it looks like you 2 are doing better than i could lol

That’s not true at all. Each week the pitpass gave us something new. The content now barely relates to the bones of the game itself unless there is DLC on the horizon. We can at least agree that the community liaison leaves a lot to be desired.
