Horsepower: 195 @ 5000 rpm
Torque: 260 lb-ft @ 3000 rpm
Transmission: Choice of a 2-speed “Powerglide” automatic or 3-speed manual
Drivetrain: RWD
0-60: In the mid- to high-8-second range
Top speed: 120 mph (estimated)
Note: 1955 was the first year that the Corvette received the small-block V8; the 3-speed manual was added later in the year for that engine, but it was not that popular, with only 75 examples having it
Note: A 2-speed “Powerglide” automatic is available as an option for 1962; this tranny is optional on the 250- and 300-horsepower Corvettes, while the 340- and 360-horsepower models are manual-only
