Why Should This Car be Added?: Since FM5 & introduction of Hoonigan and Formula Drift Cars, pre-tuned cars have disappeared from the games but I think cars like this deserve a place on the roster. Plus, it was already in FM1 & 2, so it’s not like the entire car would need to be made from scratch.
Note: For 1998, there were 1163 Pace Cars built, with 547 of them having the 6-speed manual, and the remaining 616 having the 4-speed automatic; it was only available in a convertible body style, finished off in a Rader Blue paint job with pace car graphics, as well as black and yellow interior
Note #2: It was built to coincide with the 82nd Indianapolis 500 event, which occurred on May 24, 1998
Note: 2003 was the 50th anniversary of Corvette production, which of course began in 1953; Chevy only made 11,632 units of the 50th Anniversary Corvette (in coupe and convertible body styles), with unique features like an Anniversary Red Metallic paint job, specific “50th Anniversary” badging, champagne-colored rims, and a Shale leather interior
I do think if the targa top version is added it would make a good candidate for a C5-R style widebody kit as the hatchback looks the most similar in shape to the racecar. Gran Turismo 7 got the C5 Z06 back not too long ago, finally having all eight Corvette generations represented in that game. Let me tell you, they nailed that car. It sounds good, has the incredible attention to detail you’d expect from a GT game (way better than the C5 Z06 model in Forza), and has great visual customization in the form of that aforementioned C5-R widebody kit and a couple of street parts as well.
