Changes to handling w/ assists on?

Hi. I got this game for Christmas and have just gotten around to playing it (thanks to that behemoth of a patch) and I have a question. The handling for the cars with assists on (on easy) seems much less sensitive, as compared to FM6 for example, or Apex on PC. Turning in particular seems much harder. It seems like I’m having to oversteer just to get the car to move left or right. It reminds me of more “arcadey” games like Need For Speed, which for me is not a good thing. Is it just me? Or is there a setting to make the steering more sensitive with assists on? Let me know.

Easy mode in forza will do that. Its designed for the newest of new gamers to at least be able to stay on track. The difficulty of staying on track is a known deterrent to purchasing the game. Easy is easier than FM6 due to things like easy TCS. So now there is TCS off, TCS on, TCS on (easy). Don’t recall 3 levels of TCS assist settings before.

You’ll have to manually change your assists to get the accurate feel of forza.

Mess around with the assists and you’ll see how they added basically an easier easy difficulty.

Edit: you’ll notice though that FM7 physics are easier than FM6. This may result in you becoming faster.

For example FM6 physics favored my driving style of loose cars. This likely made me artificially faster. In FM7 a tad more understeer is present which is making most cars grip a lot better. I’ll likely be passed by some simply because the easier physics is now allowing them to hit faster times more often.

Thanks for the reply. My problem is that the default easy setting actually hinders my own ability to stay on track due to the less sensitive steering, in comparison to the older games. But I’ll fiddle with the TCS settings and see if it helps. Thanks again!

That was just one example. If you have assisted steering and or assisted braking activated it’ll cause all sorts of goofy handling issues.

Try this custom assist setting first since you have some experience:

Drive line = Full
Braking = abs on
Steering = normal
STM = on
TCS = on
Shifting = Automatic

This setting will be identical to the classic Forza easy option. Be wary of anything with “easy” or “assisted” in the title.

The generic assist options really aren’t great. Many players run custom layouts since different cars may require different assists. You’ll just have to remember to change them up if you jump around a lot between different homologation divisions or car classes.

I got the game in november, and im fairly inexperienced in racing games. Ive only ever played with friends for a couple of rounds, so i too started with assists on, and struggled with the same understeer. The game however is quite easy to learn and after just some days i changed to sim steering.
Lots of people will disagree with me on this one, some might even be offended, but the truth is, even"normal steering" is basically easy mode. All characteristics of the car are dampened down until every car feels more or less the same. On top of that the car drives like its on rails. I don’t know if you (Fallen) are suffering from a condition that is forcing you to use assists, i know we have some people with disabilities here in the forums, but if you can, you should try to switch off as many assists as possible.

Simulated steering is way more responsive and you can steer in a tighter angle. The downside is, that depending on the car, it can become quite difficult to control the car in certain situations. But if you leave the stability control assist and traction control on, you shouldn’t have a problem with 90% of the cars. The other 10% can be fixed with a good tune. On well handling cars, or well tuned cars you wont need stability control eighter.

The only assist that will be “hard” to put off are traction control and shifting, since both acquire you to practise a lot.

If you just want to race from time to time try normal steering , its a lil more responsive, but if you are planning to play this game more frequently,if you want to become competitive, try to switch to sim steering and try to put abs off.
