Catastrophic Understeer?

I’ve never played a Motorsport game that had understeer as bad as 7. The understeer theme seems to be a common aspect of just about every single vehicle where they either crash off the track doing 40 in a corner or can’t even make the exit of the corner.
I’ve tried it all. Tuning, new driving style, different cars, everything. To no avail the cars continue to wallow around the track like hippopotamus on wheels.
I’ve also noticed that the wheels to the cars barely turn as they go around a corner as if a computer is controlling what happens to it and not me. Kinda kills the “realism” effect for me.

What assists to you have on?

It sounds like you have all the assists turned on.

Nope I have everything turned off, TCS makes everything crap

Not sure what it could be then. I can assure you the cars are very driveable, with no “catastrophic under steer” on my Xbox One, using a controller.
I know there is some setup required for wheel users, but I don’t own a wheel. I hope you find your answer.

Peace

What system are you playing on - what control input are you using, controller, wheel (which wheel).

I’m on an Xboxone, using the regular controller - not having anything catastrophic happening.

Xbox One X with a Elite controller, I’m not the only one finding the handling in this game is horrid there are many others.

I have an XBOX One X and an Elite controller and I’m not experiencing an’t issues, all’s good. Have you downloaded the settings for FM6 that works well for me, plus have you changed the controller settings in the game? Super GT has a good video on this.

Odd, playing on PC with an Elite Controller and I find FM7 to have the best handling yet in Forza.

Can you take a car out on a short track, say Maple short - nothing fancy something like a 1990 MX-5 homologated to c-500 run a few laps and save/ share a replay. So we can see exactly what’s happening?

The handling hasn’t changed massively since FM5 really, so if you could get on with those games o.k. bit surprised you’re struggling this time around.

No I already tried changing controller settings and it was a lost cause with this

Actually I changed the controller settings initially because I found out that drifting has become an impossible task in Motorsport 7 lol

I’m not trying to be difficult with you, but in the leaderboards, leagues and multiplayer, there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. The game physics haven’t changed that much from FM5 or FM6, and in my opinion they changed for the better.
Did you just start recently? Are you connected to the internet? Are you sure you have installed the entire game with all of the updates?

I’m on an Xbox One S, with a normal controller, I have noticed this with certain cars, I think some of it is you expect them to perform better.
I’ve noticed it as a trait of Forza, they aren’t exactly brilliant, but it doesn’t sound as bad as this.
Perhaps your pad has a fault, not getting full steering throw or something?

I don’t have an elite controller but have never changed any controller settings or deadzones anything like that and still no issues being able to play the game.

Which other forza’s have you played? How high up the leaderboards would you say your average lap times were in the past, are we talking top 1%, 10%, 20%, 30% - well you get the idea. Just trying to figure out a rough skill level for you.

I’ve put in an unhealthy amount of time into Motorsport games and I can tell you without a doubt that Motorsport 7 has physics nowhere’s close to Motorsport 5
Everything in forza 5 was hella sticky

Well, you are certainly entitled to that opinion. I too have played plenty of Forza Motorsport. Starting work th the original in the original Xbox. I still go back and race in FM4, FM5 and FM6 because I have friends that choose to stay back there. I find the physics to be better now than ever. But that’s my opinion. I don’t think the game is perfect, but the physics work great for me, and a whole lot of others according to the leaderboards.
Now, since this thread has become a troll, I’m out.

Peace

dunno what my leaderboard times would be because I never play for lap times but I put in hundreds of hours into every forza easily

Fair enough, one thing just occurred to me as this happened to me one time. The batteries in my controller were low and it must have gone in to some kind of power saving mode, where it disabled rumble.

Is your controller rumbling under braking? I found it totally unnatural to not be able to feel my braking, making me think something was wrong but all that was happening was my tyres were overheating, causing me to lose all grip under braking.

Yes my controller is doing all the normal things under braking and such however even the smallest tap of the brake mid corner usually just sends the front end into a slide and I end up in the grass on the corner exit. Kinda unrealistic and very annoying if you ask me
