In career mode the usual menu which has performance upgrades, lets you find tunes etc, is completely missing, I’ve had this in every championship in the American Thunder series. You have to quit right out of the series and do it from the main menu. Why every time there’s an update is something basic broken?
Noticed that too in American thunder. It is very weird, seems like more bugs keep coming up with every update…
Noticed this as well, and its still an issue now following update 15, in the new Australian tour, and its becoming quite aggravating.
Now, keep calm and wait to update 16. If you lucky :D…
Hey all, I can chime in here.
These series (and most Career events that utilize race cars) intentionally skip the upgrade menu in the flow, as generally we didn’t find it as authentic to the race car experience to have upgrades available in these races, and generally speaking, race cars typically do not have as many upgrade parts available as production cars, where there is usually more of an upgrade path available.
That being said, regardless of whether or not the Upgrades menu is enabled in the flow, you should still be able to download tunes for each car in these series by utilizing the tuning menu, which can be found in the Pre-race menu (Car>Tuning), without having to do so from the Main Menu.
If you would prefer to have Upgrades available for all series, regardless of if it utilizes a production car or a race car, I encourage you to post over in the Suggestions Hub!
Thanks!
The option was there before though. The menu was there for the Endurance Tour I’m 95% sure, and that was all racecars. I cannot remember a series where the option wasn’t available, even for the Ginetta Junior series. And it’s true, a lot of racecars don’t have many upgrades, and yet the option was always there before.
And the flow is simple: 1. pick car in career, 2. upgrade menu, 3. race, and repeat from step 2. I think it would be better if the option was there in the pre-race menu directly like with Free Play and Rivals, but that’s neither here nor there. This flow is acceptable.
The American Thunder Tour is the first time this flow was disrupted. I thought it was because they were spec series, but other players report that they were able to use already upgraded cars, with upgrades remaining applied, in the series. Which means these weren’t spec series actually.
That means the flow now is: 1. pick car in career, 2. back out, 3. go to My Cars, 4. pick car in My Cars, 5. upgrade menu, 6. back out, 7. go to career, 8. race, and repeat from step 2.
This is not acceptable.
Firstly, it led me to incorrectly think it was a spec series when it wasn’t. And having to use unmodified cars was a direct cause to me having an awful time overall with the American Thunder Tour.
Secondly, had I known and been able to modify cars, it still would have turned a 3 step process into an 8 step process.
I’ll hammer it. It’s. not. good. UX.
If it’s not a spec series, if you can actually use upgraded cars, just keep the normal flow. And don’t take that to mean I want these events to be turned into spec events. I really don’t.
Yes, this was the first series (racing cars or not) where the option to upgrade cars from within the career events was removed so far as I can recall. I’m also fairly certain you can’t upgrade them/download tunes from within the tuning menu either, as suggested by General Pretzel above. @General_Pretzel - if you disagree perhaps you could show us where in the following screens that option exists?
Regardless, no good reason has been given for this change. It just needs changing back and that shouldn’t require us to go off and create a “suggestion” to fix something that was working fine before.
I want to bump this with the introduction of the Champions Cup in career. This needs to be addressed. You need to fix this and bring back the update menu in career for all series, including racecar series.
You need to either:
- Make career racing series Spec series, that would utilise the same functionality that exists for Spec Rivals, or
- Bring back the option to upgrade cars in racing series.
I know @General_Pretzel already gave a reason why it’s disappeared, and I’ve already given my one ten thousand cents why that cannot be a good reason.
I could argue for it again, endlessly, but that wouldn’t be very productive. This just needs to be addressed, one way or the other.
