Car Models

I remember a lot of YouTubers claiming that Mike Brown stated that all of the older models were getting updated prior to launch. Either this was a false rumor that blew way out of proportion, or we were bamboozled again.

Mike Brown and other “creative” members are very loose with what they consider “updated”. I’m sure older cars received some updates to make it look in-line to the other cars. But as many in this thread pointed out, if the car models are literally WRONG, then adding bells and whistles doesn’t change the fact the model is still WRONG.

Turn 10 outsourced car modelling to a vendor since the early days as noted at GDC '06:
Slideshow presentation: Successful Outsourcing on AAA Games - A Case Study of Forza Motorsport™ Introductions: John Wendl-Art Director-Forza Motorsport™, Microsoft Game Studios™ - ppt download

I believe they were based in Vietnam or some other country in Asia plus some are done in-house. I’m pretty sure that once models are done, there has to be a QA team or someone in place at Turn 10/Playground that gives the final “ok” before putting it into the game. Clearly, that person has failed since the X360 Motorsports days. Either the vendor doesn’t know the differences of the car models or are being sourced wrong information on said models or the QA team also doesn’t know the differences and are failing (as usual), thinking “who is going to notice”, “it’s good enough”, “new to Forza” to fulfill metrics down the line so Mike Brown can present it on a Forza monthly “hey look how many new cars we added post Car Pass”.

At the end of the day, hearing Dan Greenawalt say “built from the ground up” from FM5 and this phrase still being used by creative in each new game is clearly a lie. I don’t think you need a car enthusiast to verify correct car models, but something needs to change at Turn 10/PG. Otherwise when the new Motorsport arrives, we are going to be disappointed yet again.

Say what you want about Gran Turismo, but their attention to detail is bar-none. It’s one of the reasons why they struggled with the decision to outsource. They finally did, and if I remember correctly, any issues with car modeling or details are immediately rectified in a patch, when it does happen, but those cases are very rare. In addition, they also do not remove any sort of badging (Super Sport) or bending over backwards to rename a car because 2 letters “might” mean something to non-gamers, where it doesn’t mean that at all full stop. It’s quite amazing Forza games still have missing badges on certain cars based on a lie from team Forza during FM6 that “Chevy made the call” yet Chevy is ok with GT and literally every other racing game to have it. I guarantee this was a call by Forza/MS and if they brought it up to Chevy now, Chevy wouldn’t care.

A 3D Digital Art studio company from the Philippines is now partnering up with Turn 10 for Car Modeling. Fact is that they also worked with other popular AAA developers for their games for other modeling designs. Hope they’ll cooperate well by correcting every car model as intended.

I doubt it’ll be retrospective.

Heck, it seems late even for upcoming FM8 launch unless it’s car packs/DLC.

Still no harm going forward

Most oftheir work looks to be environment design, so they’re probably responsible for how the tracks look

Would be nice to see a compiled list of all the car models that are old/dated/wrong whatever

Y’all keep mentioning QC.
Not seeing much of that macro, alone micro.
That’s most baffling thing about franchise at this point.

I’ve made one for Motorsport 1 models in Horizon 5 and it hasn’t changed since, it should be somewhere up this topic

Dk how many ppl know this. But ive learned if a car cant explode in forzavista then its probably brought up from the 360 era just with improved textures

this is correct, though I know of two cars with FM5 models that don’t have openable bonnets either, these are the R32 Skyline and the Mustang Boss 302

There are also some newer cars with that feature missing, like the 2018 Porsche Cayenne and the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor (although the former has back doors and trunk openable).

Don’t forget the 718 GTS, which makes me think that they got premature access to it, but weren’t allowed to look inside of the car

There’s also the GT350, which was updated with FM7

the 2015 GT350R? look at its front, it’s stretched up, the headlights are too high and the bumper is stretched because of it

I cannot believe this, at the same time it was inevitable.
We are getting the same deformed X360 car models we were forced to look at in all previous Forza games. With all the same inaccuracies. Forza literally does not care at this point. I am hurt on a personal level

just a heads up, this thread is about car model inaccuracies, not car requests

Maybe it’s just a work in progress. The visuals, including car models, may not represent the final product.
And yea these models need to be redone.

I wish we knew

If that was work in progress they would simply choose any of 500 other cars for the trailer to show the game from the best side (as visuals are clearly their main selling point) :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I’m afraid they really don’t care. And if a new engine built from “ground up” for “generational leap” is not an occasion good enough to remodel those cars then I don’t know what is. The same goes with the infamous Forza aero wings. I’m sad.

I am not joking about the R32 Skyline. We’re done here if this current abomination ever returns.

Absolute disrespect to a legend.

Some of these car models date back to OG Xbox. How can you expect any “new” game using these to still be taken seriously?
