It could just be me, but I was curious if anyone else realizes a difference in the driving and/or car physics of the game when playing in a multiplayer lobby vs running in Rivals or Free Play areas.
For Example:
When running in Rivals/Free Play with full simulation turned on & manual w/ clutch, I can run consistent lap times; transmission is fine; tire wear is expected over 30+ laps but nothing out of control.
Then I join a multiplayer lobby with same track, same car, same tune, same simulation settings; My times are off by half second or more, transmission starts showing damage (sometimes within 4 laps); tire wear seem much quicker, and I can only seem to run 10 laps or so before the car slides all over the place, due to what I expect is the tire wear.
Maybe its just me and I unknowingly change my driving style with the competition, but it drives me crazy!
I practice and practice for a week for a scheduled event and I feel great going into it. Then I try to qualify and my times are off by half second or more and car is sliding all over the place. Then the race starts and my transmission shows damage within a few laps and the kills my laps times, and car is sliding all over the place after 10 laps of a 20 lap race. Its frustrating.
If no one else experiences this and it just me; fine. Guess I’m a novice and just need more patience and practice, I can handle that. But if there’s a difference between lobbys and rivals/free play, it will make me feel better and I’ll just have to change how I practice. I guess make my own lobby and practice in there?
Yes, there is a noticeable difference in handling between single player modes and online races. It has been talked about since the game came out. I think aside of intentional rammers this was leading to the unbearable state of online racing in this game. I mostly hotlap, but every time i have tried racing online i immediately noticed that my braking points were way off, sometimes i would brake and plow into the wall like i didn’t even attempt to brake. I can’t speak about the difference in damage, since i have never been brave enough to drive with damage on in a public lobby.
When you do a race in sunny weather, you cannot choose the time of day, the shadows change places and perhaps your reference changes. It is a pity that we do not have a logical rubber lane on the asphalt. it happens to me sometimes, I only play one player, when I don’t brake at the point the problems multiply
After moving from 6 to 7 I’ve noticed this.
I mostly use the gt reborn cars which I’ve put up to r900. I have all assists off except traction control which I have on.
When tuning and test driving the car is great and I have no issues. Then I go online and my 1st and 2nd gears are as if I have the traction control off.
I’m glad I Lund this thread as I thought I was alone and have been banging my head against a wall.
So now I’ve been tuning my cars in multiplayer, bit annoying to say the least but it’s a decent work around.
I just Let the pack go then start test driving.
Multiplayer racing can be different depending on who is the Lobby Host and what settings they have set the race to.
The Host can change any assist setting or leave them “Default”
You can check the race settings but cannot change them unless you are the Host.
Rivals is for Hot Lapping and the settings are usually Cosmetic Damage.
Free play is for setting up your own racing Lobby and you can race against AI controlled cars up to 23 AI cars.
FREE Play is where you can practice your race series and earn a lot of Credit$ and Level up your “Driving Level” according to how much you earn.
The top Driving Level right now is: Level 46, where I have been for quite awhile now.
I think I have most of the cars now at around 850 cars.
I still chalk it up to be you’re over driving the vehicle. Blood is pumping adrenaline is going crazy and your still behind some fast drivers. Mistakes are being made.
No matter how hard you try free-room will never get your adrenaline up. Rivals will if you choose someone who is 2 or 3 seconds faster than you.
Has anyone from the development team ever shed light on this?
It doesn’t make sense to me so as to why they would have different physics models for MP and SP. IMO, cars definitely feel more realistic in MP and I have to be more mindful of my braking points or e.g. how I power out of turns.
