Car controls with the mouse

I do not own an Xbox controller, but I have a keyboard and mouse. I really miss the turns of the steering wheel with the mouse. This is a “big plus” for those who do not have a steering wheel or gamepad.
Add: car controls with the mouse

  1. This is the forzatography page, not the general FH4 page.

  2. Are you on pc or xbox? On xbox, you better already have a controller, and the game is greatly optimized for controllers. Keyboard+mouse support is non-existent for most games, and if you did find a way to enable mouse and keyboard support for the game (which does exist with third-party mods), it would require modification of the .ini files of the xbox. This would constitute as modification of both the game and console, and would be against xbox TOS, so if you did do it to a console, expect to be both banned from xbox live and be IP-banned.

  3. Although this is an opinion, why in the world would you a mouse to steer. You would only be moving it on the x-axis, would the y-axis be like the throttle/brake? And although the game is not great on keyboard, it is still very playable. There are various keyboard setups to play by, personally I used to play FM6 on pc, and used WASD for steering and throttle/braking, space for handbrake, and the numpad for shifting+clutch.
I have seen people play FH4 on keyboard with very weird, but suitable controls, and it allowed them to consistently win online.
Sorry, but I don’t understand nor have ever seen a driving game in which steering was done with the mouse.

old thread, ik but you clearly havent played Midtown Madness/Midnight Club/GTA with mouse steering turned on.
you do realize buttons exist in mice, right?
you press those buttons for throttle/brake.

whatever it may be, Mouse steering is eons better than using a keyboard, because analog input > digital input.

@nathanpete wow dude I didn’t realize there were still ignorant people out there like you! I hate to break it to you there buddy old pal, but if you got a trackball mouse it’s 10 times better than your everyday steering wheel. You get way more Precision with a trackball mouse then you ever would with a steering wheel. if it wasn’t for my disability I could probably outdrive practically anybody guaranteed using my Kensington four-button trackball Mouse and playing first-person shooters I can out snipe anyone guaranteed the only thing that stops me from playing competitively is my disability I do not have the quick hand-eye coordination that is needed to be competitive.

Mouse driving is far better than driving with controller lol… if u have ever played game like “life for speed”, you would know that

Control throttle, brake, steering with a single mouse?..

How do you handle situations that require performing throttle, brake, steering at the same time?

Hello Forza Community, i cant look around in free roam or in race, mouse free look not working, i have restarted the game and reseting the control setting and also reset the game via microsoft setting
and still wont work, pls help me how to fix this

thankyou

Does anyone know how to lock the free look camera in place when using a mouse? I’ve seen it done in some YouTube gameplay videos where they’re recording their real steering wheel so you can tell they’re not just holding their mouse to keep it at a certain angle. In the videos you can see one hand go out of screen to set the angle and then back into view to continue driving with both hands. Hopefully that wasn’t too confusing and thanks for any feedback.

And also in ForzaVista, I would love to make the camera stand up using just a mouse. On an Xbox Controller, I would click LS.

Don’t want to be that guy, but problems are already marked as won’t fix, so any new thing is long, long way forgotten imo.
When FH5 was released it was said devs will focus on 5 and then come back to 4 with some new stuff … never happened, already 5 is getting by design won’t fix. Or listing fixed things, that really aren’t.
So don’t hold your breath for any new stuff or fixes of 4.
