Maybe I’m just bitter but the people who stake out score zones (especially on small maps where only one flag is available) in my opinion are cheating.
While I and my fellow racers go through the trouble of racing after flags or chasing after the cars that got there before us. Some people just sit and wait at score zones only moving when a flag bearer comes near, or comes crashing into them.
And while I’m complaining… people who refuse to use their brakes in races but rather smashing into the concrete barriers or people in front of them and then accelerate away. Luckily I haven’t seen this too much.
The flag thing happens all the time, but mostly only on the smaller game modes, like the small airfield one with only one scorezone, or the timber mill small mode.
Frustrating as hell, sometimes it’s only one or two people, but I’ve been in games where literally most of the players park in the zone
Poor skill or simply being a blank bag does not constitute cheating. Sorry.
If most people park in the zone and stay there, then your strategy should be equally simple. Go and get the flag and don’t go near the score zone. Eventually they will come away and you can score or everyone ties. You still win if you get 1 point and they all get none. Just adapt your strategy to what everyone else does.
I believe the correct term for this is “puppy guarding”, at least that what we called it 15 years ago on the play ground. Maybe use your mic and call no puppy guarding at the beginning of the game.
I think they could solve this by detecting if a player is parked within the drop zone for x seconds and turning their car invisible until y seconds after they start driving again.
The upside to the way they base wins on XP gained is that the campers lose out on skills XP whereas those who make an effort get a lot. The campers and griefers don’t seem to realize this though.
They base championship wins off of total xp, but in flag games the way to win is to score points. You get 10 points for grabbing a flag and 100 points for delivering the flag to the score zone. So if you are just playing on line, drifting around the field is just as good as trying to win. But if you are trying to get a win for Forzathon you actually need to score points.
This is actually a great idea and it would certainly stop the campers, there is absolutely no reason to be in the zone for more than even a fraction of a second to deliver the flag as you race through it and head off to the next one. Great idea Zacabeb
Wish their was a timer to how long you can stay in the front of the flag capture area, 5 seconds at most, sick of people camping at the front of the flag capture area
I’m the first to complain about unfair attitudes in games but in that case, i’m not really bothered by these players, it’s a play style nothing more imho.
Once you get it, they are easy to bypass and spot because they are stationary
This definitely isn’t cheating but can be regarded as a cheap tactic. Ghosting stationary cars or cars that stay inside the drop off point too long would be good but other than that, you just have to adapt your game to get around these people.
Is it just me or does anyone else want a teambased capture the flag? Free for all is ok for a bit, but I’d rather play more of a traditional capture the flag. Maybe also with a certain amount of damage you have to take in order to get sent back to your base/jail if you trying to get the enemy flag or trying to steal a flag, No one will get a concussion if we play full contact, so what’s with this “touch” garbage?
I dont do it simply because I don’t play capture the flag, but camping is a legitimate way to play the game. You just need to figure out a way to beat them!
I feel if the flag is stolen closer to the score zone, the points for stealing it and/or scoring it should be less than if it is picked up/stolen farther away.
Whilst I am not a fan of the game mode I think people should just get over it and play it or go play something else. The game rules are what they are. Learn then and learn strategy to win within them.
We all have the same options to camp, run around like headless chooks or use strategy to win.
I thought I would struggle to get a win in an XOR and even had plans to boost one but I got a win in Flag Rush by going out and getting flags simply because the campers are not impossible to beat. Think ahead like you should in all games. Use a fakeout every now and then. Make it look like you are coming in from the East, get the campers moving and if multiple of them they will trip over themselves and then circle around and come in from the West instead.
On some maps you can actually jump into the zone.
One skill that is hard to master but once mastered helps in all games is 360 degree sight. Learn to look all around you so you know in advance if you can head in a certain direction to either catch or avoid someone.
