I get this frequently so am quite prepared to believe it’s partly because I am not very good at the game. That stated, I just did a game and I swear I touched a car with a flag and nothing happened then later - three times - a flag got stolen when the car was past me, missing me, absolutely no way at all it could have touched me. What do I not understand?
People playing on the pc with hacked games. Just a guess but mixing consoles and pc games is not a good thing in my opinion. Too many hackers with pc games.
I’m no expert but I’d put this down to lag between players.
On two monitors it shows two versions of what occured.
I myself have lagged in a race before now. I see all the other cars slow/turn/crash out and then all of a sudden I’m back where I should be in the pack. I know that from their perspective I just blasted through. I used to think this was people cheating.
So these discrepencies I suppose can do the same things in games - to put players on your screen slightly behind or ahead of where they are on their screens.
Lag can do the same thing whether on console or PC.
Many are too quick to point fingers at “hackers” but in many cases these instances are console players lagging. Aside from the leaderboards I’ve not seen any “conclusive” cheating on PC that could not also be done on the Xbox. Hacking and cheating are not always the same but can look the same as far as us good guys are concerned. I refer to a tuning cheat that saw ridiculous power occuring. I don’t recall the details but see the leaderboards for what that left behind.
Hum, could be lag. I’ve lost flags, been infected, when there was no car around.
Played a game last night where it was 6 on 3. And the 3 team kick but. Their cars were so much faster than any car on the other team. Not just good drivers fast either, I mean like boosted fast. It certainly wasn’t a lag thing then. I positive that game was against hacked pc players. We already know there are pc hacks for snipping on auctions.
Lag, yes, that could well be it. I’m not one to jump immediately to the “hackers” answer - unless it’s cars taking off vertically (literally, straight up from stationary, still infected the bugger in that game as it landed on me when it came down). Lag can if I remember rightly be used as a cheat/hack in some multiplayer environments but here it’s probably “legit” lag, so just annoying. Also I’m not very good at these games!!
This is why I can’t stand flag rush. I always get screwed on the hit boxes. Doesn’t matter if I’m on the attacking team or defending team.
I love how in flag rush the flag and the scoreboard take up half the screen.
This is an error that has been dragging since past deliveries…
At the time, I liked FH2 so much that I refused to spend time on FH3. So from there I discovered some errors that in FH3, 4 and 5 are still present. This is one of them… The game was designed on the basis of its previous installment, since the developers do not play too often, they do not realize these “details” but in the long run they become annoying. A very clear example of this error is; taking a small car (BMW Isseta, Mini Cooper S, Peel Trident, etc.) causes this error very often. It happens to me since Horizon 2, mainly in touch game to the opposite car.
In FH2 for these online events I liked to take the Abarth 595 and in reality this “touch” of infection or Loss of the crown, never gets to touch the car or a minimum rose, so the game design takes as if you do lost or you have been infected. This is because several specific cars (it would be a huge list), are designed on the same basis as a previously designed car, even if it is of another make or different model, where there is a box in the that are designed but this has never been removed so that the new car takes its 3D form in the game. There will always be a rectangle in which, when being designed, the car will always be present and this is what this error affects (being infected without being touched, they take away the crown without being touched, you lose the flag without being touched, etc.). There are many cars that have this “invisible rectangle”. There are other examples in which, when driving in free mode, cars hit trees or objects that are not in contact with the car but the game registers that they are in contact with them (it can be easily distinguished in photo mode).
So… it’s the same design error, where this “invisible rectangle” is present and it’s what causes contact with another object, so this will continue to happen until the developers investigate and give an answer. solution to the problem making all the cars have their design 3D effect and not be in their Copy and Paste form, where this rectangle will still be presented.
A complex explanation but if you have any questions, do not hesitate to tag me with your answer.
Sounds quite possible, but not sure, I have seen some examples that show size is factored but maybe those cars have a properly sized graphical box ?
Then again I have had some other examples that might be this effect.
Sometimes positive… missed that checkpoint by inches ? Nope, yay !
Sometimes negative… cleared that wall jut by inches ? Nope, bah !
Might have to pay attention and see what cars are problems and not Or those examples might be down to other issues, server lag and what not.
The consensus amongst console players is every PC player is a hacker.
Worked OK for me. I never play PG games much, but the speed zone wasn’t worth the hassle so I did PG games instead. We won! I did OK for a newbie. Got the crown for ages (twice my slowdown happened), stopped a few flags getting to the goal. I might swap out the stunts again in the future.
to be clear I wasn’t jumping to the conclusion that it was hacking, the last comment I made is the main one, it really was a question about what I’m missing, not “oh look, hmm, wonder what THAT is lol etc”
interesting
I posted this because it was one particularly bad game - and I was driving a Cooper FE
Nothing like a little hyperbole to start the morning eh dave. Unless you actually believe that ?
Whether I believe it or not is irrelevant, but I do believe that enough console players do to make it a problem.
I’m an Xbox player and I would claim to play this game more then most. In my time I have encountered one case where I was convinced the other player was cheating. In all other cases I could justify what I was seeing as server lag.
But just to be clear I’m not saying cheating isn’t a thing. I’m merely saying that most claims of cheating will be due to server lag / bugs / game functions.
Yeah, this is just a netcode thing. I’ve had it happen to me too, and while it’s frustrating, I guarantee that on the other end your opponent saw their car hitting yours.
Does FH5 have the same system as FH4 where players in the same race can be up to 12 seconds behind? If so this most likely contributes to many claims of cheating.
