From the way they described it in the Microsoft conference, Xbox One X will still render in 4K and then supersample it down to 1080. So you won’t see any jagged edges on a 1080p screen because it will be downscaled from 4K
I perfectly happy with this setup as it means I don’t need to upgrade my console AND TV in order to get the 60fps. As long as it looks good and I still see the visual improvements such as the windshield wipers and other parts vibrating I’m good and tbh, I don’t even need that to be happy.
I’m with you man. Just clean up some of the textures, add dynamic weather/time of day and year and that’s all I need. 4K is just above and beyond what is necessary for me. When I was 5 or 6 I was playing Night Driver on Atari 2600, later on the first Test Drive on PC in 4 color CGA. If you showed me this stuff back then I would have thought it miraculous.
Why would you expect to if you don’t have a 4K TV? It would still give you faster load times, better anti-aliasing, and quicker overall graphical performance. The XBX will come down in price, so I’m not going to be all over as a first adopter. Totally happy with the XBO I already have.
No, supersampling makes images look a lot better. FM6 had some pretty noticeable aliasing (jagged edges) on the graphics, especially when sitting in the paddock on the pre-race screens. I’d be super excited if FM6 gets a boost from the supersampling that’s (supposedly) part of the Xbox One X environment.
Here’s a 4K still from FH3 scaled down to 1080p without supersampling:
And here’s the same image with supersampling applied:
Yes, Forza games are now on the Universal Windows Platform, which means the same game works on any console in the Xbox One family:
Xbox One
Xbox One S
Xbox One X
Buy one copy and you’ll be able to play it on any of those devices. Buy a digital download and you’ll also be able to play it on a Windows 10 PC, using the same gamesave and owned DLC.
