My Xbox one seems like it’s on its way out ( fan kicking in far too often playing Forza) so thought I’d buy an Xbox one X or S. Just wondering if I could put everything on the new console as I bought the ultimate edition or will be stuck with standard and have to repurchase everything? I won’t be using the old console once I have the new one.
It might seem a daft question to some but I had issues with Forza 4 when my first Xbox was stolen. I could re-add the game but had to repurchase the add ons.
There is now a mechanism to transfer all the content from one xbox to another (Designed with your case in mind). You’ll need both xbox’s and an internal network (Will be too slow over wifi).
I think it also supports external hard drives as well.
Yes, mate. You keep everything you own. There is even an option to transfer (copying) all your game installations including settings and non-cloud saves, screenshots etc. to your new console. Will link the support page in a min.
Did so myself when upgrading to the Xbox One X, took a while (several hours) but was faster than downloading and installing all the games again.
I got an external drive plugged it in to my (S) saved everything on it then plugged it into my (X) before turning it on … probably the best way to do it and with the size of games now days an external hard drive is a good idea
The quickest and easiest way to transfer games is with an external hard drive. Quicker than the network transfer method. Connect an external drive and move all your current game storage to the external drive. Then simply connect the external drive to your new XBox when it’s in place. New XBox will recognize external drive and you’re done. All games in place and ready to play with all purchased content.
