I have been trying to get “LOOK BACK” to work using my wheel…and it simply doesn’t work. I can bind a button in the menu, save it, and then the button is dead/useless. Using a wheel I have no ability to look behind on a TMX Thrustmaster wheel…any button (DPad Down, trying to configure A button as look-behind, etc, etc…all completely useless). With my wheel only my rear-views allow me to see behind.
Just confirming with the community that this is actually the case for anyone using a wheel, maybe there is a default in there that maps look behind to a button but I haven’t searched for it…
Same issue here. This is a game breaking bug that needs to be fixed!!!
On PC with a Fanatec wheel, I wouldn’t say the button mapping totally doesn’t work, but it does have issues.
I can mostly assign buttons to functions and have it work.
It numbers the buttons differently in different situations. In some situations the numbers start from 0, in others they start from 1. So the same button might be button 2 or button 3 in different places in the game.
It doesn’t know what the symbols on the buttons are, even though it’s the Fanatec wheel with all the Xbox labelled buttons. The game has standard mappings for several Fanatec wheels, but not the wheel I have with the Xbox buttons.
Some buttons plain don’t work in some situations, so it will say on screen button x to do y, but pressing button x does nothing.
It doesn’t understand context, so you can’t re-use buttons in different contexts, so you run out of buttons.
One specific bug, which is the biggest problem, is rewind. For some reason, when you rewind, it shows on screen that to rewind more, you should press a button that isn’t the one you have set to rewind. Pressing the button it says you should press does nothing. Pressing the button you have assigned to rewind causes it to enter photo mode. Except, sometimes, pressing the button you have assigned to rewind does in fact rewind more, even though it’s not the button it’s showing on screen as the one to press to rewind more. E.g. in freeroam when doing PR stunts, it will often let you rewind more by pressing the assigned button. In rivals it pretty much never lets you rewind more.
I’ve no idea why it’s so hard to fix this stuff, but I’m guessing after all this time it’s not going to get fixed now.
Look Back works on forza Horizon 2 and 3 on xbox one using thrust master ferrari spider steering wheel… But…
On forza Horizon 4 using same console and steering wheel as above… Look back doesn’t do anything no matter what button I configure it with??
Problem in horizon 4 game? Is their nothing we can do?
Nope, button mapping on Xbox appears to be completely broken on my Thrustmaster. If I drive with my wheel, the only look-back I get is with my rear-views in cockpit mode…I’ve wanted to turn off ANNA and use that binding for telemetry…nope. I want to bind a button to look-back…nope.
Hopefully PC users have better results.
A positive message
I switched on a controller on horizon 4 and while it was on I looked back…
While still on I then went to configure the button for look back on the ferrari steering wheel spider on xbox one… It now works.
So by having a game controller on at same time configuring ferrari steering to look back it worked for few days.
It has stopped again and if I try and configure using same technique that fixed it few days ago… It doesn’t work.
It’s strange it did work for a time. Means it is capable of looking back… Sometimes… Hmmm
Can we get an update to solve this?
OK let me know if this works for you. This works for me. FULL DETAILS
using forza horizon 4 on xbox one with ferrari steering wheel.
Switch on console making sure steering wheel connected and game controller is also on.
Goto mapping use default 3
Put in button for look back.
Save
Another way that works everytime. Reliable!
Select default 2 in the wheel mapping… Clear your mapping profile.
go back to default 2 (you need to leave look left and look right where they are.)
For look back… Select either Y or X.
Works everytime.
I got “look back” to work using the following settings and mappings on Xbox with a Logitech G920 :
-
Settings > Control Settings > Wheel > Default Layout 4
-
Advanced > Switch Look Back / Camera > ON
-
Then map “Look Back” to X
-
(Optional) map “Switch Camera” to D-Pad UP if you want to change camera during races, however you will lose “Horn” with this. For me the trade off was worth it but up to you.
Hope this works for you, good luck.
