Hi there,
If I attempt to paint the wheels or brake calipers on my '67 Shelby GT 500, the stripes are removed. (This is also the case with the 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler.)
As you might imagine, this makes customisation difficult, as Wimbledon white paint with blue stripes doesn’t go very well with red brake calipers.
Unfortunately, I can’t upload the 30 second video I took demonstrating the bug, so I’ll post a series of pictures below instead. Since I’m limited to 10 pictures, I’ve omitted the ones showing the individual wheel parts, as the results are the same and the stripes are removed. I can post those later if required
Hopefully this can be fixed, because a car with such pedigree deserves the full restomod treatment.
Many thanks in advance.
I’m not sure why, but my bug report has ended up in the Suggestions Hub, when it’s obviously a bug as the vast majority of cars I own with graphics allow wheels and brakes to be painted without removing them.
Whilst there may be more, the only cars I’ve seen do this so far are the '67 Shelby GT 500 and '70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, and I currently have 279 cars in my ever-growing collection.
This is intended behaviour, it happens on almost all cars. Applying any other colour to any part of the car will remove “copyrighted and secured” decals because it just will, okay? It doesn’t have to but whoever designed this decided it will.
It fits Car Modeling just right. That’s why this section was even created
Based on how many of my cars keep their graphics when painting the wheels and brakes, I really don’t think this is intended behaviour for the GT 500 (or the Cyclone), as you can see with a few of their contemporaries below.
Now, the hood removing stock graphics on the other hand; an extremely useful tool where my '68 Mustang is concerned, since I’ve mocked it up as Steve McQueen’s Bullitt Mustang.
