Body Scratch as Simulation Damage?

Q: With the new car damage, how far will it go, can I expect parts to fall off my car?

A: You can expect damage to be accurately reproduced down to the individual scratches on the bodywork. Currently, we are not planning to have car parts fall off cars.

So does it mean the scratches on bodywork is Simulation damage?

Sounds to me it means it’s pretty much the same as all other Forza games.

Racing with the half frontbumper off would be cool, but they have to do this for over 500 cars. Scratches and dents will do the job optically too.
But… i hope they get rid of the on/off damage that body, brakes and suspension get after a crash. Some parts are always 0 or 100% after you hit something. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes not.

That’s one aspect, visual look. But what about performance impact… I dont see any info on that yet.

That’s not the problem. There were games with reasonable damage on licensed cars in the past. The problem is that car manufacturers don’t want to see their cars turned into a wreck after a crash in games. It may give people a negative image of that manufacturer and car.

That sounds crazy, because why wouldn’t a car turn into a pile of burning rubble after crashing into a wall at 200mph? Well, people can also crash at lower speeds and the game’s engine might still produce too much damage that could negatively affect the manufacturer. Ultimately it comes down to sales and thus money of course. That’s why we only see light dents, scratches and cracked windows in racing games with licensed cars. You can’t blame the devs of Forza.

Now compare that to games like GTA and Carmageddon where they use unlicensed cars:

looks like Forza is the only game with some kind of special license because every other racing game is having damage license. Typical fan boy logic.

There’s no extra license cost for damage, that’s an absurd logic.

Name some then. It will never be like in Carmageddon or GTA

AC, iRacing, Grid Legends as we read above, and all other games. Topic not if it’s like GTA or not. It’s about why Forza has no visible damage.

I only checked Grid Legends quickly but from what I see, it’s better than Forza but still pretty tame. The chassis doesn’t deform like in Carmageddon or GTA. Car manufacturers will never let that happen.

Nothing to be sorry about, it’s not the first time it is said, I apologize if it felt like personal attack but as per me who seeing visual and performance damage in all other games for a long time, it is weird that Forza gamers are not asking it from devs. It wont be forced on all and will be a option to toggle, but we are getting fooled for a decade when they advertise “Simulation Damage” and there’s some paint coming off and nothing else.

Yeah, like I said, body parts come off. Not even from all cars, it’s still mild. There is no chassis deformation, even after a 100mph crash. Compare that to Carmageddon or GTA. In Carmageddon you can even split cars.

Again, manufacturers (apparently) may allow some parts to fall off but they won’t allow the chassis to deform because it may give people a negative image of them and hurt sales.

You are expert at derailing the topic. We are not even having body parts falling off because you claim it’s because of license cost. But now after you got examples of body parts falling of in other games, you have changed the goal post to chassis deformation not happening due to license cost. So suddenly the cost for body parts falling off has gone?

Another one, WRC gen, recent game , takes a lot of beating but the rear wing comes off finally.
